Car description

1972 Buick Skylark CustomIf your looking for a decent looking classic car to cruise around in this summer that is mechanically sound for a price that wont break the bank, hen this car may be worth your consideration. I would consider this car driver quality and a strong candidate for a complete restoration at some point in the future because all of the numbers are matching. This car was donated to a small, ocal community college a few years ago and used for both mechanical and auto-body instruction. The 350 Buick engine was rebuilt to stock specs under the direction of the instructor and runs like a clock! The body on the other hand was probably done in "Auto-Body 101" because it has some pretty amateurish work done to it (sheet metal, op rivets and plenty of body filler). Whoever did the rocker panels might have failed the class. The paint is fair at best and does not hold much of a shine. The frame and floor pans are still solid thanks to factory undercoating at the time, ut there is some rust starting to come out above the rear wheels and in a few small places throughout. The trunk pan has been replaced. The interior is in pretty decent shape, ut would require a fair amount of work to be perfect. The driver seat is split in several places and would need to be recovered. The motor for the power seat is very weak and will need replaced. The dash has a split in it, he steering wheel has a couple cracks, he carpet is fair, he headliner has some wrinkles and there is a small spot on the back seat that has tape (probably covering a small hole). One of the heater/defroster hoses looks like it was replaced with a dryer vent hose. Heater and blower work good. The front bumper has been kissed at some point and it looks like someone tried to straighten it out with a hammer. The rear bumper is straight with light oxidation throughout. All of the glass is original and good. All of the body panels appear to be original. Both of the doors, ood and trunk open and close well. Doors are solid with no sagging. The car has a very strong and clean running 350 Buick engine with original 4 Bbl Rochester carburetor, 50 Turbo transmission, :73 stock rear-end and dual exhaust (has a deep rumble that sounds good). Car starts right up, hifts smoothly and goes down the road straight. The power disc breaks work very well. The power steering is good and tight. All of the lights and guages work as they should. I've driven this car probably two hundred miles this past week without any issues at all. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country! After market guages and Pro-Tack work well and light up. Car has a really nice Pioneer stereo system with blue tooth, atellite, D and a bunch of other stuff that I don't know much about. Sony kickers in the back and Sony mid-range speakers behind passenger seat. Stereo sounds really good. Original stereo missing and the dash hole filled with an older Sony stereo with a cassette player (not hooked up). The windshield wiper motor is a little weak until it gets warmed up and may need to be replaced/rebuilt some time soon. The car came with factory air but the compressor has been removed. The Buick rally wheels look to be original and are in near perfect condition. The BFG Cobra tires are in very good condition. Just to summarize; The car is mechanically sound and would make for a really nice summer driver at an affordable price. The car has all matching numbers and would make for a good restoration project. The frame is solid. The car looks pretty decent from twenty feet away. The engine compartment looks pretty clean. The interior looks pretty decent overall and is fairly clean. I have the oil change receipts since car was rebuilt. That's about it.Overall it is a pretty decent looking and running car that reminds me a lot of my old Chevelle. This car is priced to sell! Please look at the photo's and don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. You are more than welcome to come out and inspect the car in person. This ad is accurate to the best of my ability. No games - Nothing hidden - No monkey business! Please make sure that you are able to complete the transaction before hitting the "Buy-It-Now" button. I've had lots of problems with non-paying bidders in the past and it is a real hassle to get reimbursed from ebay and to get the car re-listed. A $500 security deposit is required through Paypal within 24 hours of purchasing or the car will be relisted. All checks must clear before car leaves my possession. Cash preferred. Thanks for looking!I forgot to add the following:The car currently has 104,075 miles on it. The engine was rebuilt at 94,672 miles. Also, here is a nice remote control that operates the stereo system.I also wanted to mention that my wife and others thought that I was being "overly critical" in my description of the car. Well, worked in a body shop and did sheet metal fabrication and paint many years ago, o I tend to be a bit critical of other peoples work. I always try to be as accurate as possible in my descriptions so that I avoid buyer let-down by over promising something. Overall I think this is a nice car and the new owner will be happy for a long time to come. That is all.
