1951 Buick Super Base 4.3L

1951 Buick Super Model 56R (Riviera) What an awesome project! 62. 94 miles that I believe are original. This car was a museum car in New Mexico until 1989 when it was brought to Michigan. I have photos! Those owners sold the car and that person had it poorly repainted. He drove it for a few years and then parked it outside for several years. The front floors. doors and outer rocker panels and spare tire well rusted. I bought the car in 2000. Now: new front floorboards. new outer rocker panels. All professionally welded in and seam sealed. Doors have been repaired from the inside with new metal attached by panel bond. All rust was sand blasted and prepared before welding. The bondo is just the first skim coat and will need completion. The only rust left is in the spare tire well. which is readily available from Arizona. The engine runs great and does not burn any oil. It does have a leak from the timing cover. The Dynaflow transmission shifts great. This car is drivable. However. it should have a new set of brake shoes. The existing ones are glazed. Otherwise the brakes work excellently. All lights work. wipers work and the radio works too! Some chrome has been re plated on the bumper attachments. but the bumpers are in original chrome. The trim on this car is exquisite! Hardly a mark! The rest of the chrome (handles. ornaments. window frames) is in excellent driver condition. 5 good whitewall tires. Windshield and back window are in excellent condition. The vent windows and door windows will need new glass. The seats may have been recovered at one time and are in great shape. The door panels and rear seat panels are shot. but are included. I made luan panels as templates and to keep my young son’s fingers safe. The car has lowered springs on the rear axle. and the original ones are included with the car. as well as a service manual and an extra rechromed piece for the rear bumper guard.
