The Buick Riviera was a large stylish American sports coupe that was extremely well regarded by automobile experts all around the world. High profile designers such as Sergio Pininfarina declared it as one of the most beautiful American cars ever built. The second-generation Riviera hit the market in 1966 and retained its cruciform X-frame, powertrain, and brakes but introduced an all new, curvaceous body. Longer, lower, and wider, the new model was instantly loved and sales rebounded. The 1970 Riviera saw yet another restyle and were hyped as "Something to believe in."
