This 1940 Buick Super Convertible had a frame off restoration completed in 1992 by Albert Brigman in Asheville NC. My father purchased this Buick and had it brought to Asheville NC for the restoration. He bought a Buick 455 engine to go back into it along with an automatic transmission for ease in driveability for he and my mother. Along with the automatic transmission. he had air conditioning. power brakes. power steering. cruise control. and tilt wheel as well. This car has spent very few nights in the weather since its restoration. when he purchased it. we owned a funeral home with a multi-bay climate controlled garage and this Buick was always inside. no matter what else might have to be left outside. Once we sold the funeral home. the house that my parents built had a large climate controlled garage just for this Buick. The burgundy paint shines like new with a few minor chips from road debris. again the car's restoration was completed 23 years ago. The interior was custom done in white and burgundy naugahyde with matching burgundy carpet and custom made floor mats. The interior looks as good as it did the day we picked the car up from the restorer. The convertible top was professionally made for this vehicle using the original pieces of the top as a pattern and professionally installed. There is a small repaired area in the top on the passenger's side right above where the front and rear windows abut. It was professionally repaired and does not leak. This was the first year that Buick introduced the split hood where 1/2 could be raised at the time and the Super was a little larger than the Special. Serious buyers and or agents for them. can fly into the Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) and I will be happy to arrange transportation to see the car and if you want more information about the vehicle. feel free to call me at 828-674-9863
