I've decided to sell my1964 Buick Riviera project car. I have restored many things about this car that started out as a very nice "barn find" with basically everything working; AM/FM radio now with an iPod/Iphone cord, engine and transmission and all basic systems, including the heater and air conditioner and even the cruise control works. (I couldn't ever get the vacuum system to move the air conditioner diverter door, it has to be moved manually) The worst part was the interior. It was very abused.
I started by refurbishing the mechanicals. I rebuilt the braking system including a new master cylinder and all wheel cylinders and brake pads and had the drums turned. I also replaced the forward parking brake cable because it was binding. Then I refurbished the cooling system with a new radiator, cooling fan and a fan shroud. I also installed a new heater water valve and the cable that controls it. I replaced the starter motor and the alternator and it has a new battery. I had the wheels repainted on the center black part. There is some minor rust on the chrome parts but could be polished out with a little hard work. It has new Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires.
I then tackled the interior by removing everything. I purchased all of the interior refurbishing items from Clark's Corvair. They are a great source for extremely high quality materials. I took the front and rear seats to an upholstery shop to have them rebuilt and the padding and seat upholstery installed. When I say rebuilt I mean they were taken down to the bare metal parts. Then she sand blastedeverything and black powder coated it all. That can be seen in a couple of my included pictures. I believe they are better than when they were new. All new seat cushions were installed and then the vinyl and cloth seat covers. I chose the vinyl and cloth because as can be seen by the vehicle code plate, that is how this car wasequippedfrom the factory. I replaced all of the carpeting, including the trunk with dark navy plush carpeting. A few of the photos show the bare floor and then the padding/insulation I installed. The two pictures showing the front bare floor show mostly red adhesive from the original carpeting. The drivers side had some minor surface rust that I neutralized with Permatex rust treatment. The interior also has all new wood trim on the door panels and center console. It has a new wood steering wheel and the original plastic one is available. It also has a new headliner in medium blue.
The paint is fair to good. It was repainted shortly before I purchased the car so it is approximately 10 years old. It has a few parking lot type door dings the worst being the one on the nose which I've shown in a picture. It also has four rust spots that I've shown in some photos.
I have many many more pictures and could email them at any bidders request. I'm open to answering any questions as well.
Enjoy the bidding.
