Car description |
---|
1972 Buick Riviera Boat tail. This car is a true survivor. It is all original and has been owned only by my father and I since new. As of this listing, it has only 14,016 miles on it. The car is Burnished Bronze Metallic exterior with the short White Vinyl Roof and the Black and White Vinyl interior.
This sale will not be easy, as the car is in Ithaca NY and I live in San Diego, CA. I do have friends who can show it or help with shipping or delivering it.
I will be in NY next week and will have the car at the Watkins Glen Vintage Festival on Friday Sept 6 and at the Vintage Races on Sept 6-7 (Weather Permitting!). I estimate that I will add another 100-300 miles on the car over my visit.
My father bought this car new in 1972 at Cutting Motors in Ithaca NY and only drove it in good, summer weather until his passing in 1980. It has always been garaged and never is salt or snow. It has been caught in the rain a few times. It has been driven a little every year, again only in good summer weather.
The only things NOT original are the tires, battery and tune up parts!
I have virtually every piece of paper and record for the car with the possible exception of the window sticker that I currently cannot find. I even have the original factory punch card with the options listing and all hang tags and manuals.
The issues with the car: My father had a friend in the rust proofing business. As he knew he would keep the car, he had him rust proof everything! So there is rust proofing everywhere, including the engine compartment. So, for a show car, this would have to be removed. I am told it would be easy, but I am not doing it. Second, there is some moisture where it is currently stored (Barn), so there is some surface rust on the sub frame. It is perfectly solid, but cosmetically needs to be addressed. There are a couple of other issues that I will discuss with anyone interested, but I don't have the patience to write down at this point.
I love this car, as did my father, but I am retiring and need to downsize. I am willing to help ship anywhere in the world, but do want it to go to a good home. I can be reached at 858-521-0883. Please leave a message and I will return the call.
