Car description

I love this car. The rare Sun Coupe feature first grabbed my attention. The colors, stance, wheels and GS features impressed me too. Then I noticed the specially contoured bucket seats, very cool. It didn't take long to realize the extreme high quality of the restoration. It has been off the frame and restored to show standards. The suspension is custom and there's a 455 under the hood. It just keeps getting better and better. Check it out! EXTERIOR: Outstanding... appearance. It is a factory red car but the paint is far better then factory ever put out. I use the terms "glass, mirror finish" and 'laser straight" alot but it really, really fits this car. The paint reflection is literally like a mirror there's not a ripple or shrinkage. You could read a dictionary in the reflection. The body is rust free, the gaps are right on. The restorer says it has all of it's original metal and it is rust free. All they had to fix was a crease on right side 1/4, it was hammered out. A big feature is the Sun Coupe. This one has a new crisp white vinyl top which a large portion slides open. It slides and latches effortlessly. The Sun Coupe emblems are mint. The bumpers are rechromed. Windshield and rear window are replaced. Down the sides the wheel well moldings, GS 455 emblems, rocker trim, door handles are all in excellent shape. It features a GS ram air hood and sport mirrors. The door jambs are detailed. Clean metal with dry seems have a gloss red paint. New sill plates and weatherstrips. Has great looking 17 inch wheels with cleverly installed Buick logos on the center caps. Rides on new performance tires. INTERIOR: The interior is just about as impressive. It has been completely restored with high quality legendary products. The coolest feature is the front seats. They are custom contoured seats but upholstered to match the original. All the upholstery is new as well as the door panels, armrests, chrome plates behind the armrests, the window cranks, headliner, rear armrests etc. It has a new Deluxe sport wheel on a GM tilt column with billet levers. The new red carpet has matching floor mats with sewn edges. In between the bucket seats is an original center console. Dash area is clean original condition. There are two white face gauges-oil and water neatly installed below. Upgraded with a stereo and new rear speakers. Rear view mirror is new. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood is completely restored and detailed. Sitting in the middle is a big 455 Ram Air GS motor. It has been COMPLETELY rebuilt. Stage 1 cam, bored 30 over. Has a complete, functional ram system. All the finishes are smooth and correct- fresh coat of Buick red on the engine. The core support, inner fenders and firewall have a perfect satin black finish. The hinges are gray, brake booster is cadium plated, jambs are gloss red. Under the hood is painted satin black and has new insulation. All the components look new- like the power steering, wiper motor, air conditioning, alternator, overflow bottle etc. The freon is updated to R134. Upgrades include a Wilwood master cylinder and a big aluminum radiator with 2 electric fans. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Super clean metal in the trunk. I just inspected with a flashlight and the quarter panels look to be the originals. There is a nice coat of spatter finish paint. It has a brand new rubber mat and over that they made a custom red carpet with sewn edges. It does have a jack and GS wheel for a spare. The bottom of the trunk lid and jamb have slick red paint. The factory spotwelds and seams are mint in the jamb. New weather strip. UNDERSIDE: Body was off the frame and the chassis was completely restored, detailed and upgraded. Frame was powder coated then fitted with Ride Tech suspension front and back. There are Wilwood disc brakes at all 4 corners with big drilled and slotted rotors. The turbo 400 trans is rebuilt. The rear end is a new 3.73 posi. Upfront is cutting edge. New StrongArm tubular control arms with adjustable mounting points. It has gas coil over adjustable shocks, big sway bar and CPP steering box. In back it has fat tubular control arms with grease fittings, sway bar and adjustable coil over gas shocks. New exhaust neatly bent with stainless Pypes mufflers. Actually everything is new- fuel tank, sending unit, fuel lines, brake lines, u-joints, starter, fuel pump, e-brake cables. The rust free floors were protected with rubberized undercoat. It is mint under this car. I spoke with the owner/ builder of this car. He spent $37,000 not including any labor. Labor would easily cost an additional $30,000. He started with a rust free car and went all the way. "Everything is new" he says. My compliments to him, he did a fantastic job!
