Car description |
---|
This 1968 Buick Riviera was owned by a friend of our family who has recently passed. He was one of the last of an amazing generation. We had the pleasure of getting to know this one of a kind WWII Bronze Star veteran. He was a true hero, he survived the Battle of the Bulge, and was honored for driving his ambulance through a mine field to rescue a downed pilot. He was 96 years old and owned the car for its entirety. He took very good care of this car as it was his prized possession. The car is all original except for the Coker white wall tires (receipt still in glove box), stainless steel exhaust, and a Die-Hard battery. The glove box contains all original paperwork including bill of sale, original finance contract, original owners manual, and all maintenance receipts. He was a member of the Riviera Club, and a hand written letter from the club is also in the glove box. They say a story makes a car, this car has an amazing story of an amazing American Hero. To find a car in this condition today is very rare. This car is an exceptional find.
This car was ordered new in 1967 and a note that was left behind in an album read:
" This 1968 Buick Riviera was the 4th Buick that I acquired, and still own. It was ordered new in October of 1967 and after 11 weeks we packed up on my birthday, the day before Christmas in 1967 (to pick it up). It is dark green with a beige vinyl top. As of now it is all original except the tires, battery, etc. low mileage car and a fine classic. Worth a lot more now than when I bought it. Not many of these cars around, so it's "one of a kind". Notice I have special license plates on it."
Everything on this car is in working condition including the vacuum headlights. Never smoked in. Interior is like brand new, ash tray never used. Original interior, paint with zero rust."One of kind" as Faye said is true to say the least.
The car is located in Des Moines Iowa please feel free to call and schedule a showing or with any questions.
