Car description

Up for auction is a 1970 Buick Skylark Custom coupe. This is a very solid car that spent most of its life in North Carolina. It was originally seamist green with green vinyl top and green interior. The previous owner changed the interior color to black. The body color is now Titian Red (1970 Buick color code 74, Riviera-only color). I had a new black vinyl top installed, as well. The engine is a 72 455 out of a Riviera. It does not leak a drop and runs really well. Specifics are below. This has been a fun car for us, but it's time to move on. We don't drive it enough, and I hate seeing it sit.
BodyThe sheet metal on this car is super solid. I tried to take some close up photos of the rockers and lower sides of the quarters to show how solid it really is. The only rust issue is in the trunk pan where there are a few dime-sized holes on the left side. In the photos, you will also see some remnants of sound deadening material in the trunk. I pulled most of it out because it was holding moisture. It also allowed me to discover those couple rust holes that were covered up. The hood is solid, but was warped due to being sand-blasted. I received the hood for free and it had already had some body work started on it. I finished over it, and there are some spots where the paint lifted. Shame on me for not stripping the previous body work off. It's not cracked or coming off, but you can see it in the right light if you look closely in person. The rest of the paint on the car is in great shape. It's just the hood that kind of sucks, but it's tolerable...still shines nicely. The doors close like new. GS grille is an aftermarket version, and fits OK. Not as perfect as original, but looks good. If there are any specific areas you need more photos of, I can provide them. eBay limits the photos to 24, so I have to pick and choose what I post here.
Engine/Transmission/Drive Train
Like stated above, the engine is not original (obviously since a 70 Skylark would never come from the factory with a 455). It is from a 72 Riviera. Engine is totally stock and does not leak a drop of oil. The carburetor is a 73 big block quadrajet that was built by Quadrajet Power in TX. The ignition has been converted to a Crane XR-i points elimination setup. Stock appearing. Exhaust is in good shape, mufflers are Flowmasters...sounds really nice. The transmission is a TH350 (that I believe is the original trans) that has been rebuilt to handle the torque of the 455. It does weep transmission fluid. I believe it is coming from the speedometer gear connection. I haven't had a chance to really look at it. It has a nice aluminum transmission pan. The rear end is a Pontiac 8.2" with a 3.55 posi unit. ALL new bearings and gears inside. It really wakes up the car. The brakes are power disc (rear drum), and it has a new master cylinder, power booster, and hold-off valve.
Weatherstripping/Rubber PartsThe following rubber parts have been replaced: door weatherstripping, roof rail, quarter window rubber, trunk weatherstripping, cowl seal, hood and trunk bumpers, lock jamb rubber, door bumpers. Included with the car is a set of front wheelhouse splash shields. They are currently not installed. Outer window sweeps are new.

InteriorDoor panels, rear seat panels, rear seat, kick panels, and windlaces have all been dyed black (originally green). The front seats are out of an early 2000's Hyundai. Not my first choice, but they were installed in the car when I got it. It also has newer cut pile carpet. Headliner is brand new. Radio is one of the Custom Autosound radios that will connect to a phone via USB connection or 1/8" plug, located in the ash tray. Rear package tray has a pair of 6x9 speakers installed, and another set of speakers is installed behind the kick panels. The car is equipped with air conditioning from the factory, but it's missing one of the hoses in the engine compartment. It has an aftermarket tach installed on the right gauge pod. Dash pad has a couple cracks in it, but I have another good used pad that is included with the car. Fuel gauge does not work.

Brightwork - Chrome/StainlessBumpers are in excellent condition. I heard from a previous owner that they are from Tri-City Plating, who has a great reputation. All of the stainless is in excellent condition. There is one small ding on the drivers side lower vinyl top trim. Rocker moldings were cleaned up before installing, but have some hazing on them from being on the car for 40 years. Outside rear view mirror is pitted, but typical for these. It has brand new sill plates.

Wheels/Tires/SuspensionAll wheels and tires are in good shape with plenty of life left in the tires. The car was lowered a couple inches all the way around. On really heavy bumps, the front tires rub lightly on the inner wheelhouse. Nothing major, though. It has heavy sway bars - front and rear. The stance on the car is awesome the way it sits.

Buyer is responsible for transport once deal is done. I will assist with loading and will work with agent to schedule a time to meet. $1000 deposit due upon auction end. Remainder is due before car is picked up. I WILL SELL INTERNATIONALLY. I've sold several cars overseas, and will gladly let this one go if there is a buyer.

I do my best to accurately describe cars I sell online, but there is nothing better than an in-person inspection. Either by the prospective buyer, or a hired inspector. I can arrange for the car to be viewed.
