Up for bid here is my parent's 1977 Buick Century Custom car. It has 4 doors and a 6 cylinder engine. It runs and drives good. The biggest issue that I see is some areas of rust that could use some attention.
This car has been in my family for about 25 years. It was low mileage and in very good condition when we got it. I'm sure that the odometer has only turned once and that this car has 127,756 miles on it. For the past several years, it was driven by my elderly mother once a week. She took it about 7 miles into town to get her hair done and do other errands. It ended up being about the only car that she thought that she could drive so we kept it. She last used it during the winter of 2015-16 before her health went rapidly downhill resulting in her death. My parents are done with this car and we'd like to find it a new home.
This car starts, runs and drives fine. The interior could always use more detail cleaning but it is basically in pretty good condition. The car was always garaged by my parents. It sat outside for the last half of the last winter because we had to take it out of the shop where I had it to make a repair on the tractor that we use for plowing snow. Other than that, it has always been stored inside. The vinyl top is in good condition but I do see some cracks underneath the rear window.
My dad had a cheap paint job put on this car about 20 years ago. The paint job still looks OK. But, there are areas of rust that will need attention before too long if you want to keep the appearance of this car up. The rust is the biggest problem that I see but it is mostly in small areas at this time. This Buick has never been wrecked but my Mom did snag a T-Post behind the driver's side front bumper as she was backing it out of the garage one day. So, that's the story of the damage in that area.
This car has a 6 cylinder engine in it. The car cruises along great but it isn't the greatest when it comes to having power. The transmission is an automatic. The only thing of note that doesn't work to my knowledge is the air conditioner. It quit working a number of years ago and my dad didn't want to pay to get it fixed. So, they just unhooked it. Also, the windshield is cracked pretty bad. It's something that we just never got around to fixing.
The summer tires that are on it are in pretty good shape. I also have a set of mounted winter tires for it if you want them. The rims are fine but the snow tires are pretty worn. Also, I have some of the trim pieces that go on the fenders in the trunk. My dad took them off because he was doing something to treat the rust and he never put them back on.
I'm not sure what else to say about it. This was my parents main car and my dad kept it up reasonably well when he was around to do it. I'm sure that it could use a service now but my Mom was pretty religious about checking the oil and antifreeze and the levels of those were up good when I started looking at this car.
I might know of someone who could haul the car for you depending on where you live. But, getting the car will be your responsibility. I know of no reason why this car can't be driven somewhere should you want to go that route. I'm asking for a $250 Paypal deposit to know that you are serious then you can pay by cashier's check or by cash after that.
In summary, this is a good classic car that runs well. It looks decent from a distance but if you get close it isn't perfect by any means. The areas of rust are a concern. Other than that, there isn't very much wrong with this car to my knowledge. It will still get you wherever you want to go.
