I am offering Betty Buick, our 1931 Buick Model 887 For Sale. We have enjoyed her for the past 5 years, and regretfully must find her a new home. We have too many vehicles and can no longer take care of so many.
Betty is a superb automobile, and has won dozens of trophies in the past five years. Her presence is spectacular, and becomes apparent that she is an elegant lady who has carried the upper class passengers in her lifetime. A model 887 was a car that spoke a lot about its owner. You were a doctor, lawyer, Banker, or successful businessman with a family if you were to buy this car. This was the first year for the straight eight engine, which is 344 cubic inches, and the largest that Buick made. The engine runs strong, and purrs quietly, and the enormous torque is evident.
The car was restored about 9 years ago by a previous owner who wanted to drive Betty in the Great Race, but medical reasons did not allow him to compete. A few modifications were made as follows: A 6 volt alternator was added, but the original generator remains. A down draft car carburetor was added to replace the updraft, however the manifold is the same, just flipped 180 degrees. An electric fuel pump was also added for easier starts. A coolant recovery system was also added, along with taller gear for higher speeds.Turn signals . seat belts, and modern brake lights were also added for safety reasons. The odometer reads 6925.4, but assume that it is not correct. All windows and doors are operational, and all gauges work, except for the fuel gauge. The chrome on the car is show quality, and most has been triple plated within the past three years. The paint is beautiful, but not show car perfection.. There are a few chip marks, and a few light scratches, but paint quality is possibly as nice as it was in 1931. The car presents itself well, and has been in concourse events, but is not a perfect concourse quality vehicle.
The car drives well and attracts lots of attention wherever it goes, and the whitewall tires with both sides white make the car very eye catching.
I will assist the buyer with shipping arrangements, and welcome inspections prior to bidding.
You may call me at 863 381-2444 for any questions. Keep in mind that this is a well preserved 86 year old car, and it is no longer on a manufacturer warranty.
