You are looking at one of the 400 Riviera convertibles made by Buick during the 1985 model year. These beautiful conversions were performed for Buick by ASC.
At time of listing, this is the only '85 Rivi convertible on eBay!
This ragtop Rivi has the original 5.0 liter V8 and an automatic transmission with overdrive. It is loaded with every luxury option Buick offered. 1985 is the last year before the car was drastically downsized and the convertible option removed. The sticker price on this Riviera was higher than a Corvette in 1985.
This automobile is working well mechanically. Detailed information is listed below. Please review it and all the pictures thoroughly.
This car was originally driven by the wife of the owner of Tatone Buick in Fairborn, Ohio (no longer in business). My father purchased it from Tatone Buick in 1987, and I have owned it since the early 2000s.
Note: The eBay AutoCheck is showing there may have been an odometer rollback. THE MILES ARE CORRECT - 159,017. THERE WAS NO ODOMETER ROLLBACK. The incident reported is on 7/7/2000. The reported mileage was 45,040 but it should have been 145,040. The odometer only displays up to 99,999, so the first 100,000 was mistakenly left off.
Mechanicals: The car is in solid running condition. It drives and rides like new with a smooth, responsive engine and a steering wheel you can turn with one finger. Recent services in May 2017 include a new fuel pump, carburetor rebuild, and a new battery.
The top motor works 100%. The convertible top has the optional rear defogger.
The smart stick works correctly. Exterior lights work. The multi-tone horn sounds terrific. Cruise control works correctly.
The digital dash in front of the steering wheel displays like new. The leveling system activates correctly. The digital climate controls work. One light on the temperature range between the "Cooler" and "Warmer" buttons sometimes does not light. The air conditioning needs to be recharged.
The dual power seats work correctly. The power lock switch on the driver door works intermittently. The power mirrors work. The power windows work except for the passenger rear window. That one goes down OK but needs to be manually helped up after it gets approximately 2/3 up (it stays up after that).
The original power antenna was replaced in the 2000s with a correct 1985 Riviera NOS antenna. The stereo is not the original one, but it is correct for a 1985 Riviera. A line-in jack was added to the stereo. Until recently, the stereo worked 100%. It currently only has sound in the passenger rear speaker. The stereo display and controls appear to work.
The trunk release in the glove compartment works. The power trunk motor also works. The wipers work but need new blades.
Appearance: Please refer to the photos. This car is mostly original. The bumper fillers are completely gone, but the car includes a set of PVC replacement fillers.
The top is worn and needs to be replaced. The top and headliner have a puncture from a small tree branch. The original paint looks rough in places.
The original boot cover is included. It is missing a snap. There is a small tear in the back middle where it has been folded while stored in the trunk. The car's leather needs to be cleaned and moisturized.
The driver seat has typical wear on the outside edge and has a small opening in the leather. The inside bottom of each door has rust that is not visible from the outside. There is some rust on the door jambs. There is some surface corrosion on the steering wheel spokes, gear shift, and tilt wheel handle.
