Car description |
---|
1949 Buick Super, 4 door sedan, custom. It's got a Chevy 350 V-8 engine, Chevy 4L60 Automatic Transmission with floor shifter, and Chevy 12 bolt rear end. Calif. registration valid through September 2017.
Other info: Reinforced rear end, vehicle lowered 4”, FatMan front spindles and disc brakes, 12 volts of course and all wiring is new (Ron Francis harness), transmission cooler, sixlap seat belts. Coker Classic extra wide whitewall tires (including full size spare, also a Coker Classic whitewall). New fuel pump, and new rear coil springs. The paint isn't bad at all, but the driver's front door paint is more of a matte finish for some odd reason (I bought the car that way). Lots of extras in the trunk including a complete 1949 Buick repair manual. There is a California Car Cover but it is designed for inside use, not waterproof, and it has a few small tears (but it's about 10 years old). A secondchrome grille is included as an extra (2 or 3 teeth have cracks), as the currentgrille installedhas a hammered dark gray finish. Upholstery is in great shape inside, interior is clean. AM/FM/CD/Aux input stereo is in the glove box, and 6”x9” speakers are in the rear deck.
The story: the stock engine blew at 79,262 miles, so we updated a bit back in 2009-2010. The car looks stock from the outside, but it moves faster and roarslouder than the ol’ straight 8. The car gets about 14 mpg in the city, and does a nice 19-21 mpg on the highway.
Here’s the scoop: I’m in the middle of installing door latches with a FOB key for the front doors, so the interior door panels are off. The door latches but you have to pull the cable from the inside to open the front doors. Rear doors are stock. The trunk latch locks and functions well, and I also have an electric trunk latch kit that is still in the box, not yet installed. I am a high school teacher and unfortunately don't have the time to finish the door project. The buyer will have to finish the doors on their own of find a shop to do it. I'm busy with a number of other projects so my hot rodding time is rare, and I think someone else could enjoy this car much more frequently than I get to do anymore. She's fun to drive, and I've enjoyed it as a local driver for years. It does great on the highway too.
Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping.
