This wonderful rare example of a BMW 2000C has been generously donated to The Elegance at Hershey concours d'elegance to be sold to the highest bidder will all the proceeds going to the charity. The Elegance At Hershey is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that in just 4 years has given over $500000 to three charities- JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) the AACA Museum and the AACA Library & Research Center! Currently stored at the AACA Museum in Hershey Pennsylvania it will be on display during the Elegance at Hershey held at the Hotel Hershey June 12-14 2015. This car is being sold at NO RESERVE to the highest bidder. It is currently available for inspection by appointment at the AACA Museum. Only 238 of these rare examples were produced in 1969 as evidenced by the build chart below. This car would be the perfect addition to the BMW collector! Exterior: The car was repainted quite a while ago with a slight color change from aqua to a light green metallic. The paint shows some spots on the hood and trunk and a blemish on the driver’s fender where some paint bubbled but the rest of the paint in good shape and shines nicely. The chrome is in good shape and shines brightly and trim is in very good shape with a few minor blemishes and also shines brightly. The glass is in good shape with no deficiencies. Tires are about 3/4 tread and seem to be ok the jack is in the spare tire compartment in the trunkbut the spare tire is not there. An original Talbot & Company teardrop mirror from Berlin mounted on the LF fender as well- a very nice period piece! Interior: The seats are in extremely nice condition with no deficiencies along with the door panels and arm rests. The wooden dash and trim are in nice shape with some cracking in the clear coating but still in great shape. The carpet is also in very nice condition but the headliner is starting to sag. The chrome trim inside is nice with some pitting around the inside window frames. The car features power windows and the original AM/FM/SW radio. Engine and transmission: The engine has a new external fuel pump and runs and starts without issue. The single carburetor might have to be gone over in the future as the car has been in storage for some time but seems to be getting better the more it is run. It does run and drive and the transmission shifts as it should but should be serviced as the car was in storage for years and had not been used on a regular basis. Chassis: The underside of the car is very solid. The brake system will need to be gone over as the brakes work but exhibits a hard pedal feel most likely due to sitting in storage. Other: Also included is the original owner’s manual as well as an original “BMW Dienst in Europa” dealer locator pamphlet. The car has a clear title in the donor’s name. From the BMW 2000CS/C Automatic Enthusiasts’ Portal: The BMW 2000 Coupé (internally coded E120) was introduced in June 1965. It was based on the components of the so called "New Class" (Neue Klasse) which was produced by BMW since 1962 and which enjoyed a great commercial success and helped the company come over the lousy post-war economic situation. The 2000 CS was designed by the BMW's head designer Wilhelm Hofmeister. The body was not produced in the Munich factory. It was outsourced to the Karmann factory in Osnabrück end eventually finalized and fitted with the rest in Munich. The coupés 2000 C a CS are easily recognizable by their particular front part. The boat-like nose features two twin-unit headlights covered with one glass. A similar design feature was again used by BMW in the 90's on the 3 and 5 Series. In some export markets like the USA and Great Britain the headlight units were replaced by sealed beam units. In total 13691 BMW Coupés E120 were built mostly in the CS version equipped with 120 PS engine with two twin carburetors and manual 4-speed transmission. The one carburetor C version featured just 100 PS and most of those cars were supplied with the Automatic transmission. Only about 400 cars came with the stick.
