Hartge is a tuning company that specializes in tuning/modifying cars made by BMW. The company was founded by Herbert Hartge in 1971 and in 1985 Hartge were approved as a car manufacturer in their own right by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA), allowing them to register a new car as a Hartge product rather than a modified BMW.
This car is a Hartge H26 that has the full Hartge upgrade including the engine, ECU, suspension, brakes, headers, exhaust, wheels, interior and exterior modifications. The engine produces 190 HP and it is matched with a 5-speed manual transmission. This was originally a Alpine White 325i equipped with power central locking, sport seats, electric mirrors, windows and rear headrests. Here is a link to a recent article on the prior owner and the car, euro-spec-hartge-h26-e30-1980s-catalog-time-capsule?hs_amp=true
The car looks and presents well without any obvious rust present and recent maintenance included a new clutch. This is a nice driver quality H26 that could be brought to the shows or just driven around town. These are somewhat rare in the E30 community and is definitely a unique car with 4 doors that you don’t see very often. If you want something different take a close look at this one.
The Hartge VIN tag confirms that this car is a West Germany built H26 that was then imported to Japan before being shipped back here to the US.
