Car description

First and foremost, I believe that transparency is KEY when dealing with an online sale. Please read FULL description.
For sale is an E34 1989 BMW 525i with 53,000 original miles!! Automatic - m20b25 engine. I bought this car from a family friend whose mother originally owned the car. She passed away years ago, and the mother's son wanted to keep the car as a memento. This car was not driven very often, hence the low mileage.
When I took possession of the car (a little over a year ago), there was some work that needed to be done. Please see below:
  • Bilstein Sport struts and shocks with proper alignment (aligned at 50k miles)
  • 17 inch BMW rims (no curb rash) and staggered tires (mounted and balanced at 50k miles). I bought these wheels freshly refurbished for $1500. They are perfectly balanced and true (could use a nice polish).
  • Timing belt, water pump, cam seal, front crank seal and intermediate shaft seal, spark plugs, air filter, battery, cap & rotor, brake fluid flush all done at 50k miles
  • Front sway bar bushings and end links done at 50k like everything else.
  • Hood and Trunk shocks recently replaced.
  • Aftermarket speakers and radio
  • All windows/ moonroof open and close as expected
**The above work was all performed by myself, the owner. I do not have documentation for the completed work. This was my personal 'weekend' car, and I treated it as such, meaning, there has been a lot of hard/ honest effort put into this vehicle.

Issues with the car (again, going for complete transparency)
  • Door panel upholstery inserts need work, common issue with these models. A DIY job, or a trip to upholstery shop will be in store
  • A/C does NOT blow cold. Everything functions (blower motor, switches, etc.), just does not blow cold. I initially charged the car with Freon when I purchased it over a year ago. At the time, it blew ICE COLD, but that only lasted for a week or so. I since have not had the time/ interest/ money to pursue repairs.
  • Heat blows HOT
  • Back left quarter panel has some damage (can see in pictures)
  • Back right quarter bumper will need the side marker. The hole where the marker goes is currently covered by black tape. There are also a few scratches around this area.
  • Moonroof trim panel has broken clips, therefore, the moonroof switch hangs. The switch sits in the center console (as pictured) and I plug it in when I want to open/close moonroof. I have the piece that is supposed to go up there, but the plastic pieces that hold it in place have broken.
  • Roof paint is a bit hazy. The whole car could use a polish job, or even a paint job to go above and beyond.
  • Rear left door lock is intermittent. Sometimes is works, sometimes it doesn't. I just manually lock it and close the door. Sometimes the car unlocks itself, but I would assume that once this door lock actuator is fixed then car won't unlock itself.
  • Right rear suspension has a tiny squeak. I believe this is the "Dogbone" joint - $50 dollar part. Never bothered me enough to replace.
Overall:
  • Car mechanically functions like you would expect a 50k original mile car to. Starts with no hesitation, idles perfect, doesn't overheat, handles like a charm, and just an absolute blast to drive.
  • Shifts are firm and sporty.
  • Car suspension is TIGHT.
  • Brakes feel nice and firm.
  • Overall a rust-free car.
  • The leather seats and dashboard condition are to me, the most redeemingqualities.
  • I also have the original wheels and tires I will throw in with the sale.
  • Make it a drift car, turbo motor m20b25, manual transmission swap, Mass Air Flow swap, restore to former glory, the sky is the limit with potential.
  • I expect that whomever is interested in this car has a huge interest in older BMW's, with some sort of basic mechanical abilities.
NO, this car is not perfect, but there is NO REPLACEMENT for a low mileage vehicle that is over 30 years old!

I love this car, but unfortunately, have to let her go due to money constraints. This is an "as-is" sale, meaning no return, and once you purchase, I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong/ is needed with the car as it is now approaching 32 years old!
Honesty is key with me, I've been as straight-forward as I can so there are no surprises for the new owner. I am willing to offer any additional information/ pictures that I can, but have mentioned everything I can think of.
