Although design started in 1976 for the E30 to replace the E21, production did not start until 1982. It had a real solid run of twelve years through 1984. The E30 platform was highly successful. It was also the first platform that saw the M cars and also the first all-wheel drive sedan the iX. The cars were built in a two or four-door sedan, a two-door convertible and wagon configurations. This particular sweetheart has been driven some miles but had single ownership from 1988 through 2018....Oh yeah, and it was a California car that entire time. This car is absolutely free from any rust or corrosion and the under carriage looks like 6-month old car. The second owner bought the car and brought it to Michigan where he went through all the mechanics including but not limited to timing belt and tensioner, water pump, thermostat, coolant hoses, plugs, sensors, brakes, full fluid flushes for cooling, engin, brakes, trans and clutch. Rebuilt the shift linkage with ECS tuning rebuild kit. Installed a Ireland engineering stainless cat-back system and then rebuilt the entire suspension. The A/C has been converted to 134 and blows cold. The moon roof still operates and does not leak. All lights work. Most of the paint is original but appears the right front fender has been replaced with a BMW-DOT replacement fender. However the carfax bears no information or mentions no collision. This is a 30-year old car, so yes there are a couple door dings, minor surface scratches and such but this car is 100% ready for enjoyment. It starts, idlys, drives and shifts like it is supposed to. When he purchased the car it still had the original CA pink slip. In addition he did a compression test on 2/8/18 with 216,500 miles and it averaged 172, with 3 cylinders coming in at 170 and the other three at 175. I have documentation on this. The cruise control is noted as not working but everything else seems to be in good condition. This is a fun little car for the money.
