Hi!
Up for auction is my 1983 BMW 528e E28. It is in fantastic condition for it's age. It has the original Tan interior (8/10...no tears and in terrific shape). The body is rust-free and very straight save for a few normal dings commensurate to normal use. It has the original Artic Blau Blue paint...the clear coat is peeling in several places, but the paint itself still looks good. All glass is in really nice shape as well. It obviously was very well cared for by it's previous owners.
It runs and drives REALLY nicely...fires right up every time, engine is strong, and steering/suspension/brakes etc rock solid. The odometer shows 230K miles, but the engine runs so strong I'd have to guess that there's been some work done on it at least semi-recently. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and flawlessly. The tires are all matching Les Schwab tires purchased new and installed at the same time about 5K miles ago, and it has a nice, full-sized spare in the trunk (looks like it's never been used). Headlights/tail lights/brake lights all work great. It looks like the exhaust may have been straight-piped. So it's a little loud, but not too bad. Good news is that it is ready for you to add a muffler, glasspack, or whatever other exhaust modification you desire. All in all, it was obviously a daily driver before I had it (and has been my daily driver for a couple months), because it's definitely been maintained like one.
All 4 power windows and moonroof work perfectly. There is an in-dash CD player/stereo included, but it just needs to be hooked up.
As with any classic car, there are a few issues:
1) The overhead onboard computer is not currently working (could just be a fuse, or it's a cheap part to get off Ebay and easy to install),
2) The lights on the gauge cluster go on and off randomly all the time...it might be tied to the overhead computer being out (Speedometer, Odometer, and other gauges all work perfectly though)
3) Heat works, but fan does not come on. Again, it could be a fuse or something of that sort, but it also could be a burnt-out fan motor (or something else).
4) The battery light on the dash stays on when car is off and key removed, and if left, the battery will drain after several hours. I'm not super-mechanical, so I haven't really looked into the issue (I've just gotten into the habit of disconnecting one of the cables before leaving it for any length of time).
Obviously none of these issues affect the way it runs, drives, or looks...I just want to be as thorough as possible as you consider your bid.
ALL IN ALL, IT'S A FANTASTIC ALL-ORIGINAL E28 FOR YOU TO DRIVE AS YOU RESTORE, OR SIMPLY ENJOY IT AS-IS AS I HAVE!
The BMW has a CLEAN OREGON TITLE, with good tags through June 2020.
This is a NO RESERVE auction, so the Bimmer will absolutely be sold to the highest bidder.
The winning bidder will be 100% responsible for setting up their own shipping or working with me for local pick-up.
A $500 Deposit will be due via PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction, with the balance due within 3 days via Google Pay, Zelle, Cashier's check, or personal check (funds would just need to clear before releasing the vehicle, which usually only takes a couple of days). Cash in person is fine too. If for some reason full payment cannot be made within 3 days, I am VERY reasonable and easy to deal with, so I'm sure we can deal with it, as long as communication is good :)
Let me know if you have any questions at all...thank a ton!
