Car description |

I have had this tii since 2000. Its in good shape, engine starts right up and runs and drives well. It was originally Sahara exterior with beige interior. It was repainted Polaris silver and the interior door cards, rear seat dyed black and front seats replaced with black Recaros from a newer 3-series. The carpet was replaced with a new black carpet set and headliner replaced. The engine was rebuilt with a performance long block rebuild kit from Top End Performance in 2002 including:
· Performance Dual Valve Spring set
· New valve guides
· JE Forged pistons with gapless Rings
· Rod and Main bearings
· Full engine gasket and ARP hardware
· Timing chain
At that time an upgraded 284 camshaft, Ireland Engineering mechanical timing chain tensioner and new clutch was fitted. Other modifications include:
· Ireland Engineering fiberglass hood
· End Performance front and rear strut tower braces with battery relocation to the trunk
· Front bumper was removed
· Rear bumper replaced with pre-74 bumper
· Ireland Engineering front air dam
· Beltline trim and kneeline trim were removed
· Ireland Engineering billet gas pedal (replacing the rusted-out ball and socket linkage on the original)
After rebuilding the engine and refinishing the exterior and interior I converted it over to an EFI system with Megasquirt ECU and 320i hardware. Then after driving it for a couple summers my first son was born, and I didn't have time or space for project cars anymore so it went into storage for the next 12 years. I recently pulled it out of storage and converted back to the original Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection system.
There is still some work required. There is some rust around the body, on the right-side rear portion of the rockers and on the left rear fender well (see pictures). There was some heavy rust in the floor pans and there were not reproduction panels available at the time so I used 16 gauge steel to patch (again see pictures). The panels were not as straight as they should have been before painting so there are some waves and the front air dam needs to be painted. The cutout for the sunroof needs to be made in the headliner and the sunroof recovered. The driver's side seat bolster is torn and the dye is wearing of in some places on the rear seat and door cards. The heater fan doesn't turn on.
I also have and can include a dash cover, beltline trim, kneeline trim, and a Bavarian Autosport car cover.
I hate to sell it but I'm trying to raise funds and make space for another project car that my kids and I can work on from start to finish.
