Car description |
---|
The time has finally come to make some room in the garage, so it's time to say goodbye to my six series.
Bought the car a few years ago with the intentions of dailying it, so took care of some of the major needs it had when I got it but shortly thereafter go another car to replace it in daily duties. Been garaged almost all of the last three years with no time to drive it or work towards restoring it. The guy I bought it from had grand dreams of restoring it, so some paint on the roof was sanded down to primer. No bare metal, just primer. Also some small spots of primer were shot over small portions of some of the rest of the paintwork.
Once you move beyond the bodywork and into the interior, things step up for this car. Probably one of the nicer original interiors out there. All seats are in exceptional shape for their age and the front seats have nice high-quality seat covers installed on them. Dash has two small cracks (pictured). As is typical for these old beamers the oil change indicator is in a permanent state of panic since the batteries have given out. Someone has replaced the original stereo at some point with an aftermarket AM/FM/CD head unit which works well, if outdated. The antenna has also been replaced and does function. Comes with original owners manual and supplemental manuals.
In the trunk three trim panels are missing: The header/divider, the passenger cover, and the tail light cover. Tool kit is complete save for the channel lock pliers. Good original jack, tire chock, and wheel bolt wrench.
Mechanically the car is very sound, always starts right up, came with a fairly new looking Bosal stock replacement exhaust system from the manifolds back and is in excellent shape. Clutch is in good shape, transmission shifts into all gears well although would benefit from some new shifter bushings.
The electronics nearly all work, the only exceptions I know of are the RR window sometimes doesn't like to go up (either a motor or a switch, haven't diagnosed it),the oil level sensor has a fault so the check panel is always showing low oil level, and the backup light switch does work but is sticky. When I was driving the car regularly leaving the car parked in reverse was enough to make the switch function properly.
Since I've owned the car I've replaced the following:
*Both fuel pumps, lift pump brand new, high pressure pump known good used unit
*Both fuel hard lines new from BMW, evap return line used good condition unit
*Coolant temperature switch and coolant temperature sensor
*Thermostat and housing
*Fan clutch
*Both radiator fan switches with known good units
*Both motor mounts
*All intake elbows, boots, and connectors
*Crank position sensor
*O2 sensor
*New Bosch silver spark plugs
*Essentially freshly powder coated 14" bottlecaps with good centercaps
*Very low miles (<2000 miles) on Michelin Pilots
The biggest issue this car has, in my opinion, is that it does have some rust. I have tried to show the problem areas I know of. Some rust around the lower front corner of each wheel well.
Titles is clean but do not currently have one in my name, was signed over to me at time of sale but as I didn't drive the car enough I never bothered registering it in my name. I have spoken to the DOL and they have confirmed that all I have to do is write a bill of sale expressing the change of ownership transferring to you, no late fees will be incurred. If at all hesitant, I will go to the DOL with the buyer to complete the transfer of ownership.
Price is OBO, all reasonable offers considered. Motivated seller but not desperate. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Additional photos also available on request.
