This vehicle was purchased by me in Alice Springs Northern Territory, Australia in 1989 from a famous Australian/German landscape artist Mr Henk Guth for which the original papers bear his name. Mr Guth lived in Melbourne and his studio in Alice Springs was 2300 kilometres away. He drove this vehicle too and from these two places and I purchased the vehicle from him with only 32,000 kilometres in the book, most of which had been travelled on route to Melbourne and back. The original Pirelli Tyres were still on the vehicle. The vehicle remained in Alice Springs until 2005 and was used regularly as a town car. One of the main reasons it remained in such good condition and relatively free of rust was the extremely dry climate of Central Australia. Having said that, I had three rust spots professionally removed in the last 5 years, nothing serious. It has been garaged since 2005 and has been taken out for a run every 3 months. It is probably one of the most intact, unmodified, ready to drive classic BMW's available on the market and it will be sorely missed from my collection. I have watched the value of these vehicles appreciate consistently as the numbers available are depleted. While I am certain that the vehicle will pass any test for roadworthiness and mechanical condition, for person's interested in this vehicle for restoration or otherwise I would advise that an assessment by a BMW agent in Australia is undertaken to provide you with a comprehensive mechanical and body condition report. I can arrange this at your expense. The original paint has held up very well but is fading and the cloth interior and carpets are intact but will need professional cleaning. I have purchased new BMW badges for the front and rear and for the centre of the wheels. The car starts first time every-time as it has done since being purchased and the vehicle will be serviced prior to export. I can provide more photos as required. Note that mileage is 91,304 miles and 147,000 kilometres E&OE.
