Running 1976 BMW 2002
Owned for over 10 years.
The 2002 really put BMW on the map in the USA.
Pictures tell the tale for the most part.
Two door coupe w/ 4 speed manual gearbox (shifts in and out and car will drive forward & in reverse)
Original color of Verona Red maintained, although it was repainted at some point.
Interior in decent shape overall.
Again, it runs, shifts & drives but it needs a good go through to ensure that everything is functional & safe.
Head rebuilt a few years back (entire motor gone through); year or two old Weber 38/38 downdraft.
Motor sounds good, slight leaking here & there, but sounds healthy.
True mileage unknown.
Regular oil changes.
Front engine brace installed.
Needs a new mount installed, which I can include.
Needs tie rod assembly replaced.
New front calipers (both sides) installed roughly a year & a half ago. Should be assessed to make sure they are functioning correctly.
Turbo Air-Dam (Fiberglass) & Flares (Plastic), & Rear Euro Bumper (Plastic), Fog lights (not currently wired)
ASA brand wheels, tires need replacement, but they do hold air.
Battery moved to trunk & installed with rear brace.
Known 2002-killer rust areas are free of rust.
Shock towers are clean and frame rails look stout (sound base structure).
Rocker panel areas have taken the brunt of rust, as shown in the pictures.
Front fenders and nose also show rust impact.
Some on doors and rear panels (as shown), and a slight repair patch on roof.
Some floor pan rust as well. Seems centered on the circular portion of the floor pan metal.
Some paint mismatch due to touch-ups mainly on portion of hood and passenger side fender.
If I had more time and money (& welding skills mainly), I would hold onto it, but as such, it not getting driven, which is where it really needs to be.
It is a super fun car to drive, which I am sure you already know if you are looking at 2002s.
Sold as is (NO Warranty of any type)! I'm trying my best to be descriptive as possible.
Please ask as many questions as possible; I can take more photos as needed and will do my best to answer all questions in a timely manner.
Thank you for looking.
