1982 BMW 320is M20
First generation U.S. specification E21
Desirable Factory Sports Package
165 hp 2.7 liter M20 six cylinder high performance engine
Close-throw 4-speed transmission
Dual exhaust
Sport suspension
Offered here is a classic from the early eighties, a 1982 BMW 320iS. Original MSRP was $13,290 and $2,620 for Sport package in 1982 (only 1% of total 320i production were S package cars, making this a very rare car).
This particular 320's modifications were inspired by the legendary BMW 323i, the top of line model of the five three series models offered by BMW AG. It was equipped with the most powerful six cylinder offered, a 2.3 liter M20 and included as standard equipment, dual exhaust with a sport suspension.
This brilliant Hennarot (Reddish-Orange) e21 was repainted in 2014. Both front and rear "diving board" bumpers have been removed to decrease the chassis weight (rear bumper included) . The large "is" over size tool box and "is" model delete rear deck lid are in very good condition. The body is hail dent free with very little rust
It has the optional gray cloth sport interior which includes grey cloth rear seats and matching door panels. A pair of grey cloth Recaros on rails with normal wear, complete the interior. The gauges include a 140 speedo upgrade as well as a upgraded Alpine stereo.
This car is equipped with an estimated 160hp M20 2.5 liter "i" 885 head with a 2.7 eta bottom end six cylinder engine, fed by a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection set-up with a full OEM header and custom catalyst delete dual exhaust. Power is transferred to the wheels with a short-throw 4-speed transmission mated to a 391 limited slip rear differential. Driver assist features include front disc brakes, lowered suspension, H&R springs, adjustable sway bars, front tower brace with camber adjustment.The battery has been relocated back to the trunk (better weight distribution). White 13 inch BBS "IS" alloys with 185/70-13 Kuhmos. The timing belt, water pump, etc. were changed a couple hundred miles ago.
With great power to weight ratio this car is an excellent candidate for high performance drivers school, auto-X, weekend toy or it can be very suitable for a daily driver. Very quick and fast...easy to drive and maintain. The car comes with the original owners books and a clean Missouri title, 129, xxx miles on the speedometer (actual mileage unknown) VIN WBAAG3302C8056697. The vehicle is sold in "as is" with no expressed or implied warranties and no return policy.
What needs attention;
It has a soft brake pedal and the passenger front strut may be blown. The oil drain plug needs replacing(new one included), also the fuel filter. Rust is minimal, a small holes in the drivers floor could be patched, but a OEM floor pan panel is included in case you want a better repair.
