If you're looking at this ad you know this is a classic BMW model that is getting more and more rare. It has the legendary M30B35 inline six cylinder motor that is known to be quite bullet proof. It's not uncommon to see them running strong with 400k miles.
Bought the car last March as a project and semi daily driver. I had planned to keep her for a few years but family priorities have changed. We are buying a new house and we also need a new family SUV so sadly the E34 has to find a new owner.
Mechanically this car is reliable. Motor fires up first turn and runs smoothly. It doesn't burn a drop of oil. The gearbox shifts properly without grinding or popping. Very smooth at all speeds, NO head shake or vibration. Recent cooling system overhaul and new head gasket were done by the previous owner. **Please note: I don't have paperwork to prove these two things were done because the previous owner and mechanic were acquaintences. However, I did call and speak to the mechanic at length and he verified the work and timeframe.
The following upgrades and maintenance have been done under my ownership:
New ZHP weighted shift knobNew oem ignition rotor and distributor cap/wiresNew oem spark plugsNew oem accessory drive beltsNew Fabi clutch slave cylinder and hydraulic fluidNew Meyle tie rod endsNew Meyle upper and lower control arms and bushingsNew Meyle idler armNew Meyle stabilizer link kitSteering/wheel alignmentNew Duralast gold batteryNew UUC Evo 3 SSKNew oem alternator breathing hoseNew oem cruise control cableNew oem output shaft sealNew Mann air filterNew Mann oil filterFresh Mobil1 10w40 synthetic oil changeFresh manual transmission fluidFresh differential fluidFresh brake fluidBrand new tiresGenuine 18 inch BMW M parallel wheels
I recently did a clay bar prep and full polish and sealant job with Chemical Guys and Wolfgang products. Paint is shining very nicely but the car is 28 years old and has a few dings, scratches and touch ups. No body or frame rust.
Things that aren't perfect or don't work:
*Oil pan gasket leaks slightly (have never needed to add oil)*Passenger side window regulator is sticky. Rear driver side needs to be replaced.*AC doesn't work*Sunroof doesn't work*Sometimes when cold the car "catches" in 1st gear, but never when warm. Has never caused an issue for me but in the spirit of full disclosure I'm letting buyers know.
US and Canadian buyers only.
