BMW's 2002 really kicked off a movement for the company that was greatly needed as they wanted to offer a more powerful version of the 1600 series in previous years. This mass produced and global model provided significant revenue for the company and allowed to pursue many other models and fine tune some of their other models. The "Roundie" version is always sought out by any collector as the unique real tail lights were only offered for a few years. This stunning Atlantic Blue car was deliv...ered to Brewster Bassett on 1-3-72 out of Boulder Import Motors in Boulder Colorado where it was enjoyed for many years. Then the car was sold to a gentleman out of Florida where numerous records and receipts document his service and repairs as he enjoyed the car. The paper trail lands in Michigan where the previous owner had owned the car for many years. The car has been extremely well cared for a 40+ yr old car and still remains in relative stock appearance and features. The engine was replaced in 1985 by a '75 BMW 2002 engine with Weber 32/36 carbs and Stahl headers. The BBS 6x13 wheels were also added at this time along with a few upgrades to stereo and the Koni suspension. All of these are period correct and does not take away from this very stylish and nicely kept car. The car fires up with ease goes thru all 4 gears with ease and gets up to highway speeds with ease. VDO gauges with oil pressure temperature and voltage seem to be operating properly and the Blaupunkt stereo with amplifier is installed. The vehicle is a timeless car that has a very strong reputation and is becoming very difficult to find without major deficiencies. These are a current classic and will continue to rise in price and demand as the year progress.
