Searching for a classic BMW but the 2002 isn't your cup of tea? Moto...eXotica Classic Cars has a solution for you as it gladly presents this European-spec 1972 BMW 3.0 CS Coupe.
Under the hood is BMW's 177HP M30 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine with twin carburetors hooked to a Getrag four-speed manual transmission.
Dressed in Chamonix White paint has some minor blemishes on the A-pillars and the nose has some discoloration underneath the chrome trim and a few small blemishes but is solid overall. The car's windows are in good order, intact and with no haze. All of the lights are present and crack-free. Car rolls on BMW five-slot wheels wrapped in Firestone Affinity tires, 195/70R14. All of the body panels are straight, the engine bay, with its rebuilt carbs and powder-coated intake manifold, is tidy and the battery looks new. Car also has a nearly complete toolkit on underside of trunk lid. Chrome trim looks bright, and the bumpers look to be in good condition. Exterior rubber on the window seals and bumper trim was likely replaced in the past.
Inside, this E9 comes with European Market blue cloth seats that are in very good condition. The large and wide front buckets are comfortable and the metal hardware on the sides glistens in the sunlight. The wood inlays at the front edges of both doors display lacquer blemishes but the carpet is in good condition, as are the headliner, steering wheel, shift lever and center console. Car has manual windows in front but power windows in the rear. The dash is original but has a hairline-sized crack near the driver's A-pillar. A JVC AM/FM stereo with detachable faceplate and Pioneer and Sony speakers round out the interior. Driver assist features include power windows.
This car was delivered from the Munich factory to BMW Ditting in Ludwigsburg, Germany in October of 1971. A man in Medford, Oregon, owned this car from April 2013 until July of that year when he sold it to a man in Van Nuys, California. In January of 2014, the California owner had the car painted white. In December 2014, he ordered various trim pieces for the car.
The current owner from Porter Ranch, California purchased this four-speed manual car in early 2015 and had it inspected and serviced by the BMW specialists at Bavaria Auto Repair in Sun Valley, California. After a thorough inspection, the owner had the center steering link, the drive shaft center support, drive shaft and an exhaust gasket replaced (undated ticket). In February 2015, he ordered additional trim pieces. In March 2015, he had the engine oil and filter changed plus the transmission and rear differential serviced.
The previous owner cannot confirm the duration of time the vehicle has been in California as previous ownership history is unknown, however the BAR sticker on the door jamb suggests it has been in the state for quite some time.
The BMW New Six CS (internal name BMW E9) is a two-door coupé built for BMW by Karmann from 1968 to 1975. It was developed from the New Class-based BMW 2000 CS coupé, which was enlarged to hold the BMW M30 straight-6 engine used in the E3 sedan.
The 3.0 CS and CSi replaced the 2800CS in 1971. The engine had been bored out to give a displacement of 2,986 cc and was offered with a 9.0:1 compression ratio, twin carburetors and 180 horsepower at 6000 revolutions per minute in the 3.0 CS. There were four-speed manual and automatic transmission variants.
Competitors to this BMW 3.0 CS in 1972 included Cadillac's Eldorado, Lincoln's Continental Mark IV, Citroen SM, Mercedes-Benz 450 SL, Jensen Interceptor and Jaguar XKE Series III V-12.
Car comes with an owner's handbook that still has its shrink wrap intact plus assorted service tickets.

MotoExotica.comis a licensed bonded dealer through the state of Missouri. We have been in business since 1988 selling high end, special interest, pre-owned and exotic vehicles.
With the advent of the Internet and EBay Motors, we have found an avenue that allows us to sell cars we normally purchasedfor ourselves. We have owned just about every exotic and luxury car known to man;such asISO Grifo to Jaguar XKE, Lamborghini Countach and Rolls Royce.
In the past, these cars were sold primarily through Hemmings Motor News and through word of mouth. We would normally keep a car and enjoy it personally for 6 – 18 months. However, with listing carson EBay Motors, our turnover has tremendously increased. Now, the average time we hold a car is 4 – 6 weeks!
With the increase in turnover has come the increased need of fine automobiles. We are constantly lookingfor exceptional cars and travel the country coast to coast in search of the rare and unusual. We find our cars through individuals like yourselves as well as classic car and dealers auctions. Wedo not purchase vehicles that wewould not be proud to ownourselves.
