For Auction Is A 1974 BMW 2002tii Original Factory Black Car With No Sunroof.
From what I have been able to tell Black is a very rare color for a tii.
Mileage shown on the Speedo is 23134, I would have to say that is not correct. I don't know if it has rolled past a 100,000 miles or the speedo has been replaced. I would have to say mileageis unknown.
This car has received many upgrades before I owned it. Including:5 speed conversion, 320i 3.91 Limited slip differential, Bilistien sport shocks, Lowering springs, Big sway bars,Steel braided brake lines, Momo steering wheel, Recaro cloth front seats.
I have owned itfor about 3 years. Most of that time was spent working on, fixing, modifying and having It painted. This classic Tii had been sitting for a number of years before I purchased it.
This car does have a salvaged title, I bought the car that way. It has had a nose replaced (a lot of tii's have) as well as both front fenders. I don't when that was done or who repaired it. For that reason as I fixed or changed things I wasn't concerned about keeping things original. I wanted a good running, reliable driver.
Paint And Body: I had this car completely repainted which included removal of all trim, front and rear glass, and bumpers. The body was not stripped to bare metal. Upon assembly a new windshield was installed along with a new factory seal and front and rear chrome strips. All belt moldings were polished before being installed. Door handles were re-keyed so the car has one key for both doors and ignition switch.A locking gas cap with the correct key is on the car.Headlights are new Hella H4's and it has Bosch fog lights. The bottom of the spare tire well does have some rust present.
I picked a middle of the road paint shop. Because of the salvage title I want to over spend on the paint, I wanted a good driver, with that said there are flaws in the paint and body work. I do get complements all the time when driving this car. You could drive this car for years and than do a complete restorationor just drive it and enjoy it as it is.
Interior: This car left the factory with a Gray interior and I have changed it to Black. I replaced the carpet with a one piece aftermarket Black carpet. Before the carpet was installed a layer of Hi Tech sound insulation was installed. Also installed on the doors. Front door panels were replaced with aftermarket Black panels. Both front door stops replaced. Dashboard also was replaced with a good used dash (it does have a few small cracks). It also sports a Momo steering wheel. I upgraded the OE Clock with a digital one from a 528i. Pull switch knobs were upgraded to 528i. Heater blower works as it should. The instrument cluster was removed and all gauges were cleaned and the Speedometer was rebuilt and calibrated for the 15 inch tires and wheels. The Console was replaced with a new one and an upgraded stereo with Bluetooth was installed. Speakers were upgraded with 6x9's In the rear and seprates Mid's & Tweeters in the front. There is an Amp under the rear seat, and a sub speaker under the passenger seat. System sounds great. A 2 Port USB charger was installed at the same time. To match the front Recaro seats the rear seat was reupholstered with a cloth to match, not exact but close. Headliner is in good shape. The interior in this car looks very nice. Under the hood foam has been replaced. Windshield washers work just fine with new washer nozzles.
Mechanical: As said before it does have a 5 speed and limited slip diff. As well as other item's listed above. I have replaced the radiator with a big tube core for better cooling. A bigger alternator with a built in regulator off a 325 was installed at the same time. I also replaced the injection pump belt and the fan belt. The cold start system has been modified to work as it should, car starts just fine. Front brakes have been upgraded to new 320i vented rotors and rebuilt 633 calipers, rear wheel cylinders are also brand new. Center resonator and rear muffler have been replaced with new factory parts. New tires and wheels have been installed and are 15 inch 5 Spoke Sport Edition's with Hankook tires. 205/50/15's in the back and 195/50/15's in the front. The engine does not have it's original cylinder head. I don't have any history on the engine, but it does run very good. I have adjust the valve's and done the normal tune up stuff, oil and filter. Clutch feels good and the transmission shifts just fine.
Overall: You can grab the keys to this classic tii and head for your favorite twisty road and enjoy the ride. It is not a perfect car. It is over 43 years old. It could use door seal's and the rear defroster grid is not working. You may want to make your own change's. I have spent a lot time fixing all kinds of little things. I'm sure I have forgotten quite a few. Any questions, please ask. If want to look at the car, which I recommend, let me know and I will do what I can to make that happen.
With fully restored, near perfect tii's going for $35,000 or more here is a great chance to own the "Ultimate Driving Machine".
This car is also listed locally, so the auction may end at any time if I receive a decent offer.
Thanks for looking and sorry for being a little long winded. I wanted to describe this car as best I could. I have seen plenty of eBay buys that aren't close to being as described.
As normal, buyer pays for all shipping costs.
