Car description |

After years of being surrounded by some of the greatest vintage European sports cars ever made, t's easy to take for granted how lucky I am to work in the classic car industry. It’s not until someone takes a tour of our facility for the first time, hat I see how excited they are to see the amazing cars we work on.
Similarly, t's easy to overlook how excited the car world got when this BMW M6 arrived on US soil in 1987. And now you see the real excitement once people get behind the wheel of this forgotten supercar. History has shown that it will repeat itself and this classic supercar is on its way back. In the past year we have seen a 56% increase in price. In its third year of officially being considered a classic car, t least from a DMV perspective, his car is perfect from an investment standpoint. It's had only one owner, riginal color combination, riginal title, ervice documentation, ooks, riginal accessory catalog, osters from the dealer and articles that were written on the car from late 80s and much more. This car's strongest asset is its drivability. The engine, earbox and brakes have all been serviced along with the belts and any other area where rubber or seals could go bad. It's never been in an accident, as a clean auto check vehicle history report, nd is a no nonsense, olid, ne owner M6. If you’re serious about buying this car, he best recommendation that I can give is to come see it for yourself. The proof is in the pudding as I always like to say. Please call if you have any questions 203 947-5293, r email us at john@blackhorsegarage.comOnly 1767 ever maded for the US market Upgraded for M duty with a slight displacement increase, wo overhead cams, nd four valves per cylinder, he M6’s 3.5 liter wails out 256hp at 6500 rpm, 74hp improvement. The new motor is the same basic engine that powered the M1, utfitted now with Bosch’s latest Motronic electronic enginemanagement system. The M team spared no expense in extracting every last pony from its powerplant. The aluminum cylinder head benefits from competition tuning tricks like machined intake and exhaust ports. Premium unleaded fuel is required, nd fuel economy wasn’t given a second thought. (The M6 drinks gas like a fiend, egistering 10mpg in the EPA city test. This thirsty performance saddles it with a whopping $2250 gas-guzzler tax.) What sets the M6 apart from the crowd is the quality of the experience. A bottle of Thunderbird and a snifter of Hennessy are both intoxication in their own right, ut the cognac is much more of a treat for the senses. In the M6’s case, he numbers tell only half the story. Form the exotic symphony of its highly stressed machinery, o the cool, onfident way it carries out your commands, o its exemplary quality, he whole ends up being far greater than the sum of the parts. There’s no use arguing, hough. If you’re a true aficionado, he M6 is gonna get you. Anything as Mmmm-good as this car always does. Harmonizing with the sweet six is a buttery Getrag five-speed gearbox with carefully tailored ratios. (The L6 is available only with a four-speed automatic.) Tho help the peaky powerplant leap into the fat part of the power curve, 3.91:1 rearaxle ratio was specified. Car and Driver-Volume 33, umber 1 July 1987 Rich Ceppos
