History;Bentley introduced the Turbo R in 1985 at the Geneva Motor Show. A company that had for the longest time been merely a more sporting carbon copy of its Rolls-Royce sister company finally broke out and unveiled something new and exciting for the mega-rich. For the ultra-wealthy who had $195,000 to spend on a massive, porty luxury sedan, here was no better choice than the Turbo R. Capable of 135 mph, either Rolls-Royce nor Bentley officially published power figures for their engines but Motor Trend conducted a test and found these 6.75L Turbo V8s to produce nearly 300 horsepower and almost 500 lb-ft of torque! That was enough to get this 2.5 ton behemoth up to speed very quickly, ll the while coddling its passengers with the latest tech equipment like cell phones and fantastic stereos. For those that wanted to go a step further, here was an extended wheelbase version like the example here that added several more inches of rear leg room and a pair of beautiful tray tables for rear seat occupants. Production of the original Turbo R totaled 5864 units, f which only 1211 were long-wheelbase cars. This Vehicle:I purchased this 1994 Bentley Turbo R from the Bentley dealership that originally sold the car in Northbrook IL.
