1992 Bentley Continental Bentley's 1980s resurgence had hitherto relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce products, ut on display at Geneva in '85 was 'Project 90', mocked-up coupé intended to gauge public response to the idea of a high-performance car unique to Bentley. When the real thing - the Bentley Continental R - was unveiled six years later, he waiting crowd burst into spontaneous applause. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, he result looked every bit a Bentley, lbeit one restated for the 1990s. Also new was the gearbox, four-speed automatic with an 'overdrive' top ratio, ut the main focus of interest was the newcomer's performance. Needless to say, his was outstanding, he combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under 6 seconds and boosting top speed to in excess of 150mph. Finished in Parchment with tan leather interior, his 2-owner California native presents beautifully and is an absolute delight to drive. Both owners drove the car as a weekend or dinner car, sing it sparingly with a Carfax certified, stonishing 26,159 miles from new, ut maintained and stored meticulously, s can be seen in the condition. Paint is excellent throughout with no scratches or dings; there is no evidence of accident damage or repair. The brightwork is excellent, heels are scuff-free and shod with good tires with plenty of tread left. The interior is also in excellent condition with next to no wear to the seat and carpet surfaces. The leather is soft and supple, nd the walnut veneer is excellent throughout the car. Mechanically the car is excellent. It drives perfectly with good response and power from the frshly serviced engine and automatic gearbox. To ready the car for sale, local marque expert has gone through it from bumper to bumper, ddressing the ABS brakes, uspension and steering, hich all work perfectly. He confirmed, ooking at the underside of the car, hat the mileage appears genuine. All electrical systems work perfectly, ncluding cold AC, nd the flip up screen Kenwood stereo. This is truly one of the best Continentals I have ever driven. It needs nothing and is ready to drive anyhere and enjoy in true British sporting style reminiscent of a Blower Bentley of the 1920s.
