You are bidding on an almost complete and extremely rare 1949 Austin A90 Atlantic convertible. Produced from 1949 to 1952, about half the total production of 8,000 were made for export, and very few of these cars were originally imported into the United States (350). I believe there are only 10 left in the United States today, with only about 60 left in the United Kingdom (of which about half are roadworthy!). There is a big following of these cars in Australia, which is one place (at least) parts can be sourced.
It has a 2.7 litre inline four cylinder engine, which I have not tried to start, but looks pretty complete. Brakes are vented drums all around with hydraulic in the front, and mechanical in the rear. The car rolls and steers easily, but is heavy for its size. I bought this car a few years ago out of Canada, where it had been stored for many, many years, with EVERY intention to restore it (I LOVE unique classics). But time and MANY other projects are just taking my focus these days, so it is time to downsize my projects to get others completed, and to let this go to someone that will bring it back to life and beauty.
There is a convertible top structure with the car. Much metal work will be needed in the trunk, but the gas tank has been tested and sealed. Although it will also need some glass replacement, fortunately, all of the glass is flat, so that should not be difficult.
Payment is as follows: An immediate, non-refundable payment through Paypal of $500 at the completion of the auction, with the balance being by wire transfer or cashiers check within 3 days of the end of auction. Seller is completely responsible for arrangement and cost of ALL shipping matters, but I will help coordinate the seller's agent / shipping company picking it up at my location. Buyer has two weeks after the auction to arrange shipping and complete removal of the vehicle from my garage.
PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS PRIOR TO THE COMPLETION OF THE AUCTION!! I am happy to answer whatever questions you might have.
