1984 Austin Mini
Up for sale is a classic 1984 Austin Mini. A very iconic and fun car, especially with the red paint and white roof, which is similar to theoriginal movie "The Italian Job". I have owned the car for about 6 years. The previous owner brought it over with him when he moved from England. He had the card converted from right hand drive (RHD) to left hand drive (LHD) to make it easier to drive in the US. I have driven both, and although RHD isdefinitely fun, it can be very dangerous when passing or turning.
Has a 4 cylinder 998cc engine that just had the top end rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago. Also had a new water pump, distributor, carburetor and manifold installed. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smooth in all gears. The drum brakes were just rebuilt and new brakes line were installed, along with a new master cylinder. New wheels and tires with less than 200 miles on them. The car runs and drives great and is a blast to drive!
This is not a show car, but rather a fun daily driver. The red paint with white stripes, roof, and mirrors is very iconic. The car was repainted about 7 years ago. Although it still looks good, it isstarting to show imperfections. Thepassenger side door had a poor repair done at some point and will likely need to be fixed properly or replaced. The boot (trunk) was not properly prepped when it was painted, and as a resultthere are some areas where the paint hasseparated. These are not major issues, as then cannot even be seen in the photos, but they are areas that would need attention nonetheless. The passenger side floor pan will also need be replaced. A replacement panel is included in the sale.
The interior was also redone about 7 years ago with new carpet, seat covers, door panels, dash panel, and door/window handles. A radio and speakers were installed as well. The heater system has been removed (was not needed in Florida), but comes with the sale and is easy to reinstall. New door gaskets were also installed. It has been garagekept.
This is a car that, although it does need some work, it can be driven immediately. If you are shopping for a Classic Mini, you likely know that although these are iconic cars now, they were originally built and bought to be an everyday beater car. As a result, unless you are paying top dollar for a fully restored car, there will be some work that has to go into it.
