Car description |

This Austin Healey 100 was purchased 14 years ago. I have owned many Austin Healeys and British cars over the past 42 years. I have been a member of the AHC for over 35 of those years. It is with mixed feelings that I put up this fine sorted 100 for sale.
From 1990 to 2003 it was owned by an attorney who used it for weekend jaunts and SCCA events. He longed for a fully restored Le Mans version and knew it would be more practical to buy one done than spend the money on a full restoration. So he bought one.
He sold this car to a sports car enthusiast who collected Mercedes Benz and wanted to do a full rotisserie restoration to Concourse standards with a full Le mans package. Halfway through the restoration he unexpectedly passed away. It was at this time I purchased the car intending to finish a job well started.
The Healey was never terribly rusted and a top notch job was done on the jig replacing what needed to be replaced. I like my cars original and with no rust..this was a car with great bones to start. There were many new parts including a complete blue leather interior and trunk kit.
After reading the heritage certificate I learned this car was "special" order with a red interior and red top. ( I had pieces of the original top!) This may be the only 100 to leave England with this color combination. If I didn't have the expensive interior I would have gone red.
The engine was upgraded to Le Mans specs with .40 over pistons and M cam. The cost of the engine rebuild was $17,000 alone and was done by Specialty Sports Cars in Columbus, a well respected classic car shop. Mark at Specialty can answer any questions.
The car looks and drives grea, with 2000 miles on the engine rebuild. The paint is 14 years old and very nice. A couple imperfections on the trunk lid after 14 years is perceptible at a certain angle. A high rev starter and spin on oil filter round out any non-original parts.
A Moto Lita wheel came with the car and the previous restorer went with a leather dash, which was maybe an option but was on Donald Healey's car. I Like it. Honestly would love to sell to an enthusiast who will enjoy her for another 15 years.I have priced the car at what I feel is a wholesale level. I am decreasing my collection to 2 cars, having sold one already with one more to go.This is very difficult..
The top and side curtains are brand new and have never been on the car. I am 6-1 and the extra room by not installing it gives me more leg room. A full blue toneau cover is included as well as a brand new California blue car cover and battery tender. The batteries were replaced last year. She's all ready to drive and enjoy!
