This car is the rarest version of production Sprites. There were 6,641 shipped to North America between late 1962 and January 1964. I would guess that 6,400+ have already gone to the scrap man! This variant was the first to have disc front brakes and the 1098cc engine, but the last to have the ¼ elliptic rear suspension and side curtains instead of roll-up windows. This car also has the factory option front anti-roll bar that helps the handling qualities of the ¼ elliptic rear suspension. I spent almost $20K doing a ground-up restoration in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The car has 1430 miles on the driveline and 215 miles on the restoration. I have most of the receipts. The engine, transmission and differential were rebuilt to factory specs by professional technicians. The body panels that needed to be replaced after a RediStrip dip (owing to corrosion) were installed by a professional body shop. Parts that were replaced were either NOS, or purchased from Moss, Victoria or sourced in the UK, the others were reconditioned. The instruments were rebuilt in California. The car comes with the tonneau, top and appropriate frames, cover, cassette radio, tools side curtains. The car is as close to “new” as one can get without it being “perfect” or “concours”. It has some blemishes that occur as a car that age would be expected to have. It just had its annual service and tune plus a new battery and solenoid. The car doesn’t really need a third-party inspection (see pictures) but I will accommodate one if desired- please contact me (Tom) at 972-567-1218 to make arrangements. Also, please call me with any other questions that you may have. I am selling the car because I am in my late sixties and suffer from severe arthritis, so working on it or driving is just not enjoyable anymore. I have had her for 35 years, so it is time for someone else to enjoy her!
