Car description |
---|
Introduced in March 1961, the 3000 Mark II came with several minor improvements over the Mk. I model, including the introduction of three SU HS4 carburetors and an improved camshaft design. Designated the BT7 Mark II in four seat form, the model would be Austin Healey's flagship model for the year with just over 5,000 being produced- vastly outselling the two seat version, the BN7. The desirable three carburetor set up, however, would be reduced to just two SUs in 1962, creating a special allure for now rare "tri-carb" examples.
This particular BT7 received a full restoration a few years ago and at the time refinished in a beautiful Gloss Black with Red Coves theme that shows very well. The chassis and body are straight, with no rust or signs of any previous rust repair. The interior was redone in black leather, with red piping and also shows well with no rips or tears. The Big Healey starts up, idles and runs very smoothly through the gears.
Car comes with perfect full weather equipment including top, side screens, tonnaeu cover, a jac, matching spare wire wheel, top and a car cover.
As a solid, easy to enjoy, and rare "tri-carb" model, this formally restored 1961 3000 Mk. II will appeal to those enthusiasts looking for a beautiful sunday morning cruiser.
