Car description

**PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY--THERE IS A LOT OF INFORMATION CONTAINED WITHIN! **Up for bids is my 1972 AMC Javelin SST.I have owned this car since 1996 but now my interests have changed and it's now time to let it go to someone who can give it the time and attention it needs. The car runs and drives well, but really needs some new tires and brake rotors before it's driven. To the best of my knowledge, this car was sold new at Superior Motors in Huntsville, Alabama. I know the car spent time in Texas as there is a Dyess Air Force Base decal on the front bumper and there was a squadron recall roster from same in the trunk when I got the car. When I got the car it had just been resurrected from a 14 year banishment to the woods where it had been parked after an accident (see the photos of the driver side quarter panel) which bent the rear axle. I replaced the axle shaft and did some work on the brakes and other things needed to make it a runner and it has proven to be a very reliable car ever since. I can't recall any instance where it has failed to start and run except when the battery failed. Regardless, this car is overall in fair condition. I will attempt to give you the best description I can. Options: *304 V8 with 2-barrel carburetor*998 Torqueflite automatic transmission*Console shift*Factory AC car (compressor is missing---was missing when I got the car, but all else is there) *Black vinyl interior *14" AMC Rallye wheels*Fiberglass AMX trunk spoiler (added by me in 1996)*Digital AM/FM/Cassette player from an early 80s AMCThe Good:*Engine runs very well*Transmission shifts and works great, doesn't leak*All original paint (the red paint, anyway)*Converted to front disc brakes from a 1982 AMC Spirit*New Legendary front seat upholstery (rear seat is original in in excellent condition)*Mostly rust free except for an area in the trunk floor and in the dented quarter panelThe Bad: *Engine leaks from several places*Emits a puff of smoke when first started, needs valve stem seals*Tires are 18 years old and are worn out*Front brake rotors are warped*Driver side quarter panel is dented (damage done in 1982, last time it was tagged before I bought it)*Trunk floor has some rust on the driver side (tail panel appears to be solid) *AC compressor and bracket are missing--they were missing when I got the car and I never got around to replacing them *Vinyl tops are gone (originally was white vinyl, top area has been painted black*Bottom corners of rear window are rusted*Carpet is shot*Headliner needs to be re-covered (the shell is perfect, just needs new foam-backed material glued to it*Windshield has a crackGood Stuff to Repair the Bad (these are included with sale):*I have a whole complete quarter panel from a parts car to replace the damaged driver side quarter*I have a section of trunk floor sufficient to repair the rusted side of the trunk floor You can take a look at the photos and decide for yourself. This is a lifetime Southern car so the floor pans and frame rails are great. I think the trunk floor rusted due to the water getting in through the rear window corners while it sat. **Legal Stuff**Read this VERY carefully:This car is currently registered in the state of Georgia. Prior to that it was registered in the state of Alabama. It has been legally registered to me since 1996. From all indications this car was sold new in the state of Alabama, which did NOT start issuing car titles until 1975, and Georgia does not require a title on cars older than 1985. Thus, this car is sold with BILL OF SALE ONLY. This car has NEVER had a title. Before you go moaning "No title = no sale" GO CHECK WITH YOUR STATE'S DMV! **ALL** states have a method for dealing with Georgia Bill of Sale Only cars!!This car is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with absolute NO warranties, expressed or implied. Shipping will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. Buyer will supply a $500 deposit immediately via Paypal, with the balance due IN CASH at time of pickup. ONE MORE NOTE:

Me not thinking ahead, I listed this auction last night, which means it ends this coming Friday night. I will be out of town next weekend attending a wedding, so it's quite likely I will not be available next weekend to complete the sale should the buyer be in a position to do so. Please keep this in mind if you're bidding.

Thanks for the interest!!

Apparently there is a problem with eBay and the way it is handling external links. I think if you simply copy and paste the link above into another browser window you should be able to go directly to Photobucket and see the photos I have for this vehicle, which include more detailed photos.

Sorry I wasn't able to get the link to work.

One additional answer in regards to the electrical system--this car still has a perfectly functional Motorola alternator. It was a reman unit I installed sometime around 1997-98 or so.
