Car description |

Up for bids is my 1979 American Motors Silver Anniversary Concord DL. The only trim package that AMC ever did to celebrate the history of the Corporation. 25 years after the Nash/Hudson Merger, AMC in an effort to sell more Concords for the 79 model year sold a special two tone "Silver Anniversary" package which included special two-tone Silver paint, and burgundy corduroy interior, with special badging on the front fenders and glovebox, though this car has a factory error in having the standard "Concord" script on the glove box door.
I was told by an AMC employee whom worked at the New England Territory Dealer Distributor, that they only made 1200 Silver Anniversary Concords, I would guess around 600 2 doors and 600 4 doors. I have never seen a 4 door in existence, and I have only ever saw two 2-doors in person, and maybe 3 additional in photos taken within the past 10 years.
This Concord is optionally equipped with258 6 cylinder engine (232's were standard in '79)Automatic TransmissionAir Conditioning (system has a leak, has been converted to 134 in the past. Compressor is good)Silver Anniversary PackageTilt WheelCruise Control (currently inoperable)AM RadioWhite Wall Tires(I have added genuine AMC under hood light and trunk light assemblies)
This car could be the nicest original survivor example in existence. It has been garage kept for most of its life, and only has 35645 miles. Based upon its extensive documentation, this car was purchased new at Wagner Buick-AMC-GMC in Washington Missouri for $6762 by Mr. and Mrs. Pehle of Hermann Missouri. They had traded their 76 Pacer in on it. I believe the Pehle's owned this car for over 20 years until sometime in the 2000's it was owned by a Ms. Vivian Abbott. It was sold to Mr. Glen Clifton in 2017 whom had both engine and transmission pulled, had it entirely gone through, all new gaskets and seals, and both were repainted and the engine bay detailed. He also had all new brakes, hoses, belts, and tires (black walls) installed. He then sold the car to an AMC collector outside St. Louis, whom of which I acquired the car from. In the year the previous owner had the car, it was not driven, so once I received the car I went through the fuel system and carburetor, including installing a new fuel pump. This car has no fluid leaks of any sort! Park in your driveway with no staining to worry about. As shown in the photos, the car still has its original AMC Buyer Protection Plan paperwork, original retail buyer's order, and invoice showing its a genuine Silver Anniversary sold new with just 19 miles on the clock. Original owners manual, and a stack of paperwork detailing a lot of the cars history (and owners) from 1979 to present is included.
Since owning the car, I bought new correct size H724 Hankook 195 70 14 Optimo white wall tires from Discount Tire with warranty, which really improved the appearance of the car with the deluxe wire wheel covers. I have also buffed the highly oxidized paint which was very dirty and etched when I bought it. Overall the paint is still decent, but it is tired and the light silver would probably need a repaint to be as close to a #1 as possible. There are thin spots on the trunk, roof, and on the ridge of the hood, no surface rust. The interior is absolutely beautiful and all original, with some fading of the carpet on the door panels and the backs of the front seats (could be re-dyed). The floor carpet is very nice but you can tell where a CB radio was once mounted on the transmission hump under the dash. The AM radio works perfectly. The vinyl roof has minor cracking and is presentable, but may need to be replaced if the new owner cannot keep it indoors. The filler panel between the rear bumper and body of the car is sun damaged and cracked but a replacement comes with the car. This car was just at the 2019 American Motors Owners International Show outside St. Louis where it earned Jr. Bronze in the Driver Class.
This car has absolutely no rust/rot in the body, floor, trunk, or unibody. It was never driven in the winter snow or salt and the proof is in the car, there is no rust and no part of the car has ever been patched. My starting price is what I have in the car. You would not be able to restore a Silver Anniversary to this condition for this price.
You can have this car shipped, or you can drive it home, though keep in mind you won't have AC.
Buyer to have car paid in full within 14 days and picked up within 30 days.I will be going to Northern PA/Southern NY for the Gordy Chilson AMC Reunion show (Labor Day weekend) and could deliver along the way (NC/VA/MD/PA/NY) for an additional fee. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by text or call at 302.233.5332. I can take video of the car running, or photos of anything you may like. Car has a clear title and is located near Rock Hill, SC. Thank you for looking,
