Car description |
---|
These are cars extremely rare. I had several of these back in the 70’s and finally found this one 4 years ago in Oklahoma. The car was in good shape and after purchasing it, I drove it straight back from Claremore OK to Kansas City without incident. Since owning it, the car has been stored in a warehouse. I did install a new exhaust manifold and rebuilt the carburetor.
It has the 232 straight six and automatic with power brakes but no power steering or AC. It does come with the power steering parts i.e. power steering box, pump, hoses and pulley to be installed. It is factory yellow but will need to be repainted to make perfect. It was Ziebart rustproofed when new and while there is a small amount of rust, it definitely made a big difference because most Gremlins have died or rusted away.
The interior is in very good condition and all the parts are there and in good working order. Some of the plastic interior parts that by now are normally destroyed by timeare still intact and in great shape including the rear panel below the rear window, headliner and door panels. This car has the Gremlin X style interior which includes the factory buckets vs. the bench seat which is extremely rare. It even has the iconic Gremlin gas cap. Things that need attention: The rocker panels need to be reworked – they have the patch panels covering some rust but are only riveted in place. There is also a small amount of rust in the front floors with small metal panels riveted in. The passenger side of the car appears to have a rattle can finish but does not appear to be hurt underneath. The gas gauge is intermittent but I located a gas tank sending unit that goes with the car. This car runs and drives very well and gets a lot of looks. Again I hada fewof these back in the day and had planned to restore it to a Gremlin X version, but I have way too many projects and need to make room $5100 or best reasonable offer.
