1950 Rambler American 2-door Wagon
This is a cool little car. Very nice original body that is nearly rust free. One small spot on one fender. The car runs and drives but needs minor work before being a driver again. These make nice hotrods, drag cars, or just run it original. It had cragars on it at one time and it looked good. I'm sure a lot of wheel/tire combo's would look good on it also. The car has a clear title. I have many more pics of car. Thanks and happy bidding.
MECHANICAL
This car has the original inline straight six cylinder, with automatic transmission. The engine runs nice and doesn't smoke. It is smooth and quiet. The carburetor needs rebuilt. The needle and seat or something is wrong in it. It runs fine, but won't hold fuel pressure. It floods out and leaks. The fuel pump (electric), is on a temporary pushbutton switch for moving it around and loading. The transmission works fine. It's a three speed automatic. The front seal does leak when sitting for awhile. I've used that stop leak before, with success, but it could need a new seal if that doesn't work. I'm sure it would be good to check it out thoroughly but it really needs very little work. The exhaust is fine and quiet. The car will need tires and may need the brakes bled/adjusted just from sitting. It was driven semi-daily two years ago, so it doesn't need much to get it reliable as a daily driver. It runs cool. No oil in the water or water in the oil. Headlights work. I don't know that I ever tried the heater, wipers, radio, but I can.
BODY
This car has a very nice body for an un-restored car this old. Paint looks good. Only one very small spot of rust that is starting through. This is on the top rear corner, of the passenger side front fender. This spot is very small and hard to see in the pics. There is no other rust through, and very little surface rust even. I've been over the car with a paint thickness gauge also and I've been under it. The rear door area and jam is nice also, which is a problem spot on wagons. The front floors did have rust but it was repaired and repaired well. The body is very straight overall. The same passenger front fender has small dents in the low rear corner. They are soft dents and would push out pretty easily from the inside. I just didn't get around to it. All doors, hood, and rear doors operate properly. Floors, jams, roof, hood, doors, fenders, quarters, firewall, cowl, cargo area, etc. are very dry and solid. Overall, the body is in nice shape. Great car for a resto but I think it has a nice survivor look and I would drive it as-is. Maybe with some larger torque thrusts? It would look like a matchbox toy I think but maybe that would look cool.
INTERIOR
The interior could be usable for a ratrod with just a floormat/carpet, and a front seat cover. The front seat is not original. It works though. I may have some gm bucket seats I can include, if I have any. Not sure that I do though. I can find an original front seat for this pretty easily though. The seat in it is very close to original and it is a split back bench. I fit in the car and have driven it and I'm 6'5" 270 lbs. The rear seat and headliner are usable but have wear. It needs front seat recovered, carpet, door panels recovered. Dash area and gauge area in nice shape. Cool looking dash and radio. The radio is a big, built in piece. you can see the knobs on the dash. I can send more interior pics also. The beer tap shifter handle is not included lol. Sentimental value. I just had it on there because it didn't have one but I'll find another to go on it.
NOTE:Mileage is 7446. I'm sure it's rolled at least once and is most likely 107,466. Also, this is a used car. An old unrestored classic. No warranty and it is sold as-is.
