Welcome. Up for sale is a 1970 AMC (American Motors) Javelin 2 Door Fastback. It is being offered for the first time on eBay with a very low reserve, and it is priced to sell fast! Don't miss out on a chance to get a rare, unique muscle car with exceptional performance for a small fraction of the build cost! This Javelin has been a labor of love over the past ten years by the past few owners prior to my taking it on trade.
Overview:This Javelin is a scarce base model that left the factory with a 304, 3 speed manual, and 3.54s. It was built as a real Frost White car (rare color) with a black rattan weave interior. It has had one repaint in a tri-coat pearl white, with blue flames added, and the entire interior has been redone in black vinyl. So it retains its' original color combo, but both the paint and interior have been redone. It was converted to a 360 (built), a 727 torqueflite automatic, and 4.10s by a previous owner. It has an original GO package hood as well, added later in its' life.
Driveline specs: The motor is an early '70s AMC 360 that has been built, but neither I, nor the previous owner who traded it to me, have any exact specs or papers on the build, as it was done by the owner previous to both of us. The information given here is based on the word of the owner who had the work done. I have never dynoed or drag raced the car, but it has a very healthy, rather radical cam, as well as other signs of performance work. It was said to be bored 0.30 over. It has an Edelbrock Torker single plane manifold. The valve covers were pulled and photographed by the previous owner, as shown. You can see the girdle plates on the valves for high rpm strength. It is estimated to be in the 400 horsepower range, possible a bit more or less. In fact, the car comes with a photo album full of photos showing how clean the inside of the engine, trans., and rear are. All were serviced less than 200 miles ago, with the previous owner changing the oil and oil filter religiously every 5-6 months, despite being driven a few hundred miles a year. The cooling system was flushed and all new coolant added. You can see from the photos that this is indeed a very low mileage motor since being rebuilt/"hopped up," but the exact miles on the motor are unknown. It is likely less than a thousand, as the car sat a lot in the past ten years undergoing restoration by two different owners. The transmission is a 727 Torqueflite 3 speed automatic. Again, it is unknown what, if any stall, was added. It does have a manual valve body installed. The filter and fluid has less than 200 miles on it. The rear end was also serviced with a new seal and fluid less than 200 miles ago. The previous owner stated he swapped out the original 3.54 gears for 4.10s. The mufflers are brand new, as the previous owner thought the ones on it too crackly and loud. It now has Magnaflow muffers. The exhaust piping is quite new also. The car has long tube headers as well. New items with less than 200 miles/2 years on them include: spark plugs and wires, all belts and hoses, cap, rotor and points, voltage regulator, air filter, horn relay, starter solenoid, passenger's wheel bearing, and fuel filter. The car has manual drum brakes, with new shoes and wheel cylinders. In fact, it stops quite well for manual drum brakes. New brake line has been installed as needed. It does have power steering, so it maneuvers fairly easy.
Body: This Javelin has an older repaint in a tri-coat pearl white. Although quality paint was used, the paint is far from perfect... but still looks decent and presentable. Again, not show quality, but not a ratty driver either. As an older repaint, many tiny chips and scratches have been touched up. The body is very solid and this Javelin is "not a putty bomb." It had quarter skins put on prior to the repaint. The floors were very solid, but welded repair was made where the inner rockers meet the floor and in the edges of the trunk floor. It is not a professional, show job, but it is solid and good to go. The frame rails are also solid front and back, with lots of old undercoat, but no rot or holes.
Interior: The seats and door panels have been recovered. The headliner and carpet are also new. The previous owner paid over $350 for an original in-dash tach from a '70 AMX that is fully functional. The original AM radio is present, but is not hooked up. Good luck hearing it anyhow...The car has bucket seats, that have been recovered, with a center console.
Other: All four tires are brand new with less than 200 miles on them. The battery is newer also, with years of warranty remaining. Clean and clear PA title in hand. Current PA inspection also.
Payment and Shipping Information: A non-refundable $750 deposit via PayPal is due within 48 hours of the end of auction by the winning bidder. The car is to be picked up in person and paid for in full by cash or certified bank check within 14 business days. We are a licensed dealer and all title and paperwork can be done on site. We are located in Mt. Carmel, PA 17851. This car is for sale to buyers within the 48 continental United States only, and, again, the delivery of the car and payment in full is to be made in person at our lot. Thank you!
I have other photos of the car if needed, as well as video clips of the car running, so please ask before bidding, as the sale is legal and binding. Please contact us via email with any inquiries or questions regarding this Javelin. No phone calls please, as I am often away from the office and can respond to emails much faster. Despite being inspected and run through our shop, due to age, this Javelin is being 100% as-is, where-is, with no warranties or guaranteeseither stated or implied. Serious bidders only, please.
Thank you for your interest and happy bidding! Low reserve, so bid to own!
