I'm a car collector with TOO MANY PROJECTS! I'll never have time to get around to all of them...so I'm moving a few select projects on to someone who has time/money to get the projects done!
Up for sale here:
A 1978 AMC Concord D/L coupe with GREAT POTENTIAL!
My original plan for this car was to build an internal frame (it's a unibody car), cut the top off and make it a custom roadster. This car would be ideal for that due to the rusty roof!
The good:
The drivetrain and parts that are still there are well worth the asking price!
Check out the photos and ask any questions!
Thanks for looking!

A 1978 AMC Concord D/L coupe with GREAT POTENTIAL!
My original plan for this car was to build an internal frame (it's a unibody car), cut the top off and make it a custom roadster. This car would be ideal for that due to the rusty roof!
The good:
- The 258 straight six engine runs good...Carter BBD 2 bbl carburetor is original. It is missing the smog pump and hoses (and one of the bolts for the smog pump manifold, so it runs LOUD...but will run quietly again once the smog manifold is replaced)
- The Torque-Command 904 automatic transmission (rebuilt in 1996) seems to shift well. NOTE: I've only driven this car around the block...it hasn't been on the road in over a decade.
- Brakes and power steering work as they should
- Alot of the original chrome trim, etc. is there
- Unusual original configuration: D/L package with leather interior, power steering (but NO power brakes), NO A/C, NO cruise control, has delay wipers and rear window defogger though.
- The roof is rusty...there's rust through above the driver's side door and across the entire windshield area. Due to my plan to remove the roof, I never worried much about fixing it but the headliner and roof trim is gone so the roof panel is cleared to remove
- The body has limited other surface-only rust where the paint has failed and has several dented areas (see the photos...most noticeable is the PS quarter-panel and PS door)
- The paint is dull and worn out
- The vinyl top is missing...as is much of the trim for the vinyl top (again, I was going to remove the roof anyway, so I didn't do a great job of keeping track of the vinyl top trim)
- Several other exterior trim pieces have good missing over the last 20 years or so I've had the car...DS rocker molding, sail panel "Concord" scripts, hood ornament and all of the stick-on side body moldings. There are some trim pieces in the trunk and glovebox (Concord "crests", PS belt-line molding, etc.)...but the missing pieces listed above are NOT included.
- Tires hold air...but are VERY OLD and dry rotted
- DS window regulator does not raise the window all the way to the top anymore...gears are stripped off so the window has to be manually lifted the last 6 inches
- The interior is fairly complete, but not in great condition. No headlining, no dome light, dashboard has cracked instrument panels, carpet is pretty much gone, front passenger-side seat does not match (original had locking issues with the back)...had a tachometer for awhile at one time but now that is missing. There is NO radio. The door panels, seats, steering wheel (out of an Eagle wagon), dashboard pad and most of the interior plastic panels are there and usable condition.
The drivetrain and parts that are still there are well worth the asking price!
