FOR SALE: A beautiful blend of Southern California car and surf culture, this hand painted 1963 Rambler American comes from the estate of Mike Marshall by way of the Surfing Heritage Foundation. Mike and his car were both well-known fixtures of the local surf community in Southern California. This two door hardtop includes a flathead 6 cylinder with disc brakes and a dual master cylinder. Hand painted and pinstriped by renowned artist Jimmy "C" of Jimmy C Kustoms, this car pays homage to Von Dutch and Big Daddy Ed Roth in its detailed paint job. Complete with hard-to-find original "aloha" teal surf racks, this car includes a vintage surfboard from the archives of the Surfing Heritage Museum in San Clemente, California. Hawaiian print material headliner, red tweed upholstery, originalrambler floor mats. White vinyl door panels.A well-known and respected local surfer, surfboard shaper and surf historian, Mike Marshall was the "real deal" in Southern California surfing and surf culture and this was his car. I bought it 2 years ago and brought it with me from the west coast to the east coast. It has been regularly and professionally serviced and runs great! Manual trans. with 3 on the tree. Motor is the original 220 flathead straight 6 rebuilt sometime in 09. Approx. 6400 milage on the rebuilt. Slightly lowered. Paint is light pink body with pearl white top. Has about 4 tiny pits in paint on top of passenger side fender (no rust). Couple of small marks along doors, nothing huge. Drivers side door is fussy and has to be closed gently to latch. White walls are a bit dirty and could use a good scrubbing. Drives like a dream!! Like most old cars, this car likes to be driven regularly to keep it running smoothly. Sweet spot on the freeway is about 60/65. Turns heads like no other!! This is a daily driver car NOT a trailer queen or show car (although I did just come back from taking it to 2 car shows & as always gets tons of attention). This is an classic and withALL classic cars you will need to do regular adjustments & maintenance to the motor to keep it running strong. If youare not a "car person" meaning you don'tknowbasic maintenance of having a classic caror have neverowned classic cars, this probably is not the car for you.Owning a classic car can be an expensive hobby. I say that because I know there are folks out there thatthink you just get in anddrive like a modern computerized car or cannot afford tomaintain their cars and they end up being towed to a junk yard or sold for scrap metal. I don't want that to happen with this awesome piece of history. I keep it at my mechanics in ST. Augustine for storage since I don't have room in my garage, so he does my scheduled maintenance and tune-ups. If you would like to schedule a time to see it in St. Augustine FL. I will schedule a time for you to see it in person. If you need a car transport co. for this car or another vehicle/bike I would suggest using U-Ship. I will gladly have the car ready for pick up by your carrier after payment has cleared. Serious buyers only. No tire kickers. This car is also on Craigslist Jacksonville FL. Contact me if you would like to submit a "buy it now" offer
Serious bidders only! If you bid, I will contact you via ebay messages to ensure your bid, If I cant get ahold of you I will cancel the bid. If you bid and need to cancel your bid contact me immediately, do not wait til the auction is almost over or after you have won the car. Its costs me money every time I have to list or relist something. $400.00 deposit via cash or paypal will be required within 24 hours of auction end. Deposit will not be returned to buyer. Remaining balance minus $400.00 deposit must be completed within 3 days of auction end. If the car is purchased by personal check or money order, the vehicle will be held for up to 3 days after payment has cleared. Any questions? Please don't hesitate to ask :) Thanks for looking!! http://www.surfingheritage.org/2011/06/rare-opportunity.htmlCheck out when this car raised $60,000 for the Surfing Heritage Foundation!
