Car description |
---|
This Machine has been restored to as close to the condition that the factory in Kenosha sent it out the door on January 22nd 1970. I've restored multiple AMC's
and grew up in a family owned (40 years) AMC dealership so it's a passion not a hobby. After the body and all panels were media blasted it was epoxy primed and blocked many times. The white was painted in Single stage Urethane, the blue was clear coated. Factory Undercoating/sound deadener was duplicated. Wheels were blasted and painted base coat clear coat and are as close to the factory match as I could get. New Legendary door panels, seat skins and arm rest cover. John Newell stripe kit with authentication decal was installed.
Several date coded items that I checked such as motor (valve cover tag), upper radiator tank, seats, door tag, and even a hand written crayon date under dash all coincide with a end of the 3rd week early 4th week of January 1970 build date.
THIS CAR 100% COMPLETE. Detailed PICTURES are available of THE RESTORATION PROCESS.
#1) This rare Machine started life as one of the 1000 +- (nobody actually knows the exact number) RWB Machines, furthermore, it's a true 4 speed car.
This is NOT one of the many clones and Might be THE ONLY ONE with the assembly line date actually written under the dash!!!!
#2) When we purchased it the car was a nice driver not a basket case and never has been in it's life
#3) Almost all parts were there and original to the car. This IS NOT an erector set car.
#4) The car was always in the South, spending its life in Texas and New Mexico, Virtually NO BODY RUST EVER!
#5) Complete photo documentation available.
#6) All fasteners were removed (that should have been) for the painting of the car and are correct and used in there correct locations
Items missing or changed:
Original exhaust manifolds missing (currently headers)
Exhaust, size increased to 2 1/1" with cross over, correctly bent tail pipes
Original air cleaner air filter cover needs to be chromed and rubber seal is incorrect
Mechanical oil pressure and water temperature gauges installed in removable panel on dash, I have an original unaltered one
One piece rear axles
Items needing to be addressed to be perfect:
Rear bumper was rechromed but center section wasn't done and is starting to show discoloration, should be redone to be perfect
(2) Trim rings on wheels have some dings from tire changings (previous owner)
Speedometer reads high, appears to have correct drive gear in trans., I think it needs to be re-calibrated
Options:
Electric wipers
Electric clock (upgraded to quartz movement)
"American Motors" passenger side vanity mirror, VERY RARE
Factory AM/FM radio w/ rear speakers (radio just stopped working?)
"Rim blow" steering wheel (restored)
Power steering
Remote drivers side mirror
Courtesy lights
Key in ignition buzzer
Full size (Machine wheel) spare
floor mats
Car cover
NOTE:
The motor, transmission, and rear end are original to the car and have NOT been rebuilt by my self. I was told by the previous owner the transmission had been done just before we purchased the car. The clutch looked new but I replaced it anyways and resurfaced the pressure plate when the motor was out. Everything functions well as they are but I have no history on them. Because I haven't owned this car since new mileage is TMU.
SERIOUS buyers can contact me through this ad and I'll give you my contact numbers. We're selling it only because we have others and don't have the time to exercise all of them as they should, and honestly just talking about it is far less fun than driving it! I've disclose everything I know as I only want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. This is NOT a desperation sale. Sold as is as described.
Car is for sale locally through various means so it may become unavailable. Car is being sold as is and as described. Every attempt to represent this car accurately has been made. Please ask any questions. All reasonable questions will be answered promptly.
Shipping is buyers responsibility but for a fee I may deliver in an enclosed trailer East of the Mississippi.
Car is currently stored inside @ our home and can stay there for a determined amount of time.
