Car description |

I've decided to sell off one of my car projects that I know I'll never get to as there are 4 in front of it. I don't want to leave this car outside in the weather so it's time for someone else to save it.
This is a 1968 AMX. These are 2 seat cars and considered the one and only 2 seat sports car built by AMC to compete with the 1968 Corvette. An odd looking car compared to the Corvette, but it actually out performed the Corvette in numerous tests when outfitted with the 390ci motor.
This car is the smaller 290ci motor with a 4 speed transmission. I bought this car about 2 years ago, rounded-up some missing parts, and then parked it. The body does need work as there are several layers of paint and there's some bondo on the front corners of the fenders. The sheetmetal is good and salvagable in these areas - they just didn't know how to properly dolly and repair the panels. Pretty much rust free as far as I can tell.
All lenses, grilles, badges, etc are all there and in good condition. The seller for me on this car was that it is complete. The body trim, bumpers, etc. are all there and straight. Given that these are a very unique and low production count cars, their trim pieces are also unique and very hard to find.
I have purchased misc. other parts for the car as well....- Repair kit for common window mechanism issue- Factory Clock - Misc. Trim - Rear Deck Spoiler- Set of brake slave cylinders for rear brakes- Partial kit for converting to Front Disk Brakes- And a few other parts along the way.
Car has American Racing Mags (older 15" and in perfect shape) and the original 14" dish type mags that were on it when I purchased it.(in pictures) The car ran and drove on the trailer when I bought it but it was rough and definitely needs a rebuild of the entire motor or at least the heads and carburetor. I wouldn't attempt to drive it on the road in it's current state.
As mentioned, it is a factory 4 speed car with black exterior and interior. Original color of the car appears to be a light gold/yellow. I did some research on the production history and I believe there were only 5 cars built in this color. Car is in 'Restorable' condition. Meaning that it needs body, paint, interior, engine and brake work. It's got 'good bones' and will be a nice project and runner when completed.
This car will definitely go up in value over time so it's a good long term investment. And, you never see these cars at shows!
Car is located in Granite Bay California 95746. Title is clean and it is currently Non-Op'd with the CA DMV so no fees are due.On Jan-01-17 at 11:25:55 PST, seller added the following information:
