Before I put this beauty away in winter storage, I want to see if there is any interest. I DO NOT need to sell this car.
1973 AMC Javelin SST. Runs and drives excellent, drive anywhere!!! This car was originally a 360(N code), auto(TF727), SST model. It currently has a factory 4bbl intake and Edelbrock 600CFM carb. Other then that the motor and trans are stock, and runs great. One exhaust leak on the passenger side manifold. The previous owner said he had the trans rebuilt, and it works excellent. The kick down is adjusted properly, and the trans shifts very firmly. Also has a trans cooler(after market). The motor starts right up, idles nicely, and has plenty of torque!! Has the factory A/C(not working), smog pump (not hooked up), factory manifolds, new starter. Fairly new 2.5" dual exhaust with a Pypes X pipe, turbo mufflers, and chrome tips. Very quiet!!!
Original color was Copper Tan Metallic(E7) but, is currently painted Cordoba Brown Metallic by a previous owner. The interior trim code is 346S, which is parchment/cinnamon vinyl. The vinyl top is in good shape. One tear about the size of a quarter(see pic). The front seats are not original but, I have the originals. They will need to be recovered. The rest of the interior is very clean, and presentable. The factory clock was replaced with a SUN tachometer. All dash lights, and gauges work.
The front end was recently rebuilt. New steering box. New ball joints, tie rod ends, strut rod bushings, sway bar bushings. KYB shocks all around. I just did the front pads, and rotors. Previous owner installed a rear sway bar. I recently installed a set of restored factory 15x7 Rally wheels. BFG 275/60/15 rear tires, and 235/60/15 front tires. The rear is a stock AMC 20 with 2.73 gears. Cruises very nicely on the highway, 65mph @ 2200rpm!!!
The body is nice but, not perfect. There is a dent/damage to the drivers side front fender(see pic), and the very bottom of the rear quarter drop offs are starting to rust. The paint is shiny but, has some chips, and a small ding on the drivers side quarter panel(see pic). The fender troughs are solid, floor pans are solid(one patch on the passenger side foot well), trunk is solid. There are some paint bubbles on both sides of the back window, and the tail light panel(see pics).
Overall this is a very, very nice driver. Has a few upgrades and is very presentable. I have owned LOTS of Javelins, and this one is the most enjoyable to drive, a real pleasure cruiser!!! Please feel free to give me a call if you have any further questions, (908)-625-5502 Jake
