Car description |
---|
1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint. These coups are very hard to find in this condition. The 2600 is the last of the inline dual overhead camshaft all aluminum alloy engines. This model is fitted with its original solex triple carbs, 5 speed transmission and drum brakes. These Alfas are have begun to appreciate in value as the body lines of the coupe designed by Bertone is now seen as a classic Italian design that allows more driver comfort and passenger room. These Alfas are known as high speed long distance touring automobiles.
This example will need a complete interior restoration. The existing interior color is burgundy with white wool carpet. The engine is complete and original with the exception of a few non original hose clamps. Running when parked, it will be easy to get up and going; fresh fuel and filters, oil change, tune up, and radiator flush is recommended. The brakes & brake system will need flushed, inspected and serviced. The rear end will need a pinion seal from sitting static for the last 5 years.Records from April 1985 show a rebuild of the engine at 31,000 miles, the Alfa currently shows 84,369 miles.
This little car is for the restoration minded buyer. With no time to restore it myself, I hope whoever purchases it will do this beauty justice by restoring it to pristine condition.
