Own a piece of automotive history -- gorgeous 1988 Alfa Romeo Spider for sale. This is a 5-speed, 2 liter convertible with Bosch fuel injection. The car has 61,000+ miles on it and runs great. No electrical problems, car starts every time (even after sitting in the garage for much of the winter). Most importantly, the body is in incredible shape with NO RUST except for a small portion of the body behind the driver's side front wheel (see photo). Otherwise, this car is in incredible shape.
This is the Graduate model, named after the famous movie that put Alfa convertibles on the map for American audiences. Car is sold "as is," with no warranties express or implied.
In 2003, the cylinder head was rebuilt. About 3-4 years ago, the motor mounts were replaced. I have a carfax report -- this car has never been totaled, flooded, etc. The car starts and runs well. There are the usual synchro issues that are common for older Alfas; the shifting into 2nd gear can be a bit crunchy, but once you're used to the clutch, you can run through the gears just fine. The clutch probably could be adjusted.
What works: the convertible top is like new and works perfectly. The gas, oil pressure and other gauges work; the speedometer and tachometer don't (could easily be fixed). Needs a new cable to open the gas tank cover (you have to open it manually from the trunk for now).
I installed a decent Sony after-market stereo, with CD player and front input to hook up your iPod, phone, etc. Automatic antennae extends open when radio turned on (very cool). Two decent speakers in the doors, and the sound is good, even with the top down at high speeds. The car has Pirelli tires, but they are quite old, and should be replaced before highway driving. The hubcaps are the plastic "phone dialer" type that were original issue on the car. Some extra parts/hubcaps.
The car is a blast to drive, and turns heads on the road. They don't make them like this anymore! I have lowered the reserve on this car, so get yourself a piece of automotive history for a very reasonable price. Message me with any questions, or to arrange a time to come look at the car. Do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers.
