1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider - VIN #149504020 / Engine # AR1315*44067*
This is a desirable short wheelbase 750 series car with all the early features, including small tail lights and early gauges. It has beenupgraded to Veloce spec and has a later split-case 5 speed installed as well.
This is a beautiful car that would be a great candidate for a vintage rally or show enthusiast who wants to participate in events without having to do all of the legwork first...just turn the key and go. It is an excellent driver, displays nicely, and needs little to be a perfect example.
I have driven this car recently and ithasexcellentacceleration, tracksstraight, and stops well.Throttle, steering, and braking are all very responsive and the 5 speed shiftsincrediblysmoothly.Allfunctions operate, with theexception of what is noted below.
I am representing this car for a friend and have full access to it during thecourse of the auction.I encourage you to ask any and all questions you may have about the carbeforeyou bid.

The car was restored some time ago before the present owner bought it. The engine has been rebuilt with Veloce rods, header, pistons, cams, and intake plenum along with dual Weber 40 DCOE's. It has also had a later split-case 5 speed installed. The oil lines are braided stainless steel with Aeroquip fittings and an oil cooler has been added in the nose of the car.
Aside from the drivetrain modifications, the outside of the car appears essentially stock, with the exception of quick-release pins to secure the hood. The chrome is very presentable and all of the trim and badges are present and in excellent condition. The wheels are restored and have a nice set of Vredesteintires installed.
Just this year, the interior was redone inblack leather with redpiping and Wilton wool carpeting. A new cloth top was also installed. The gauges are in all in nice shape, but show some of the typical yellowing that happens over time. It should be noted that the car has been converted to a push button starter.
It also benefits fromnearly $12,000 worth of work just this year (notincluding the new interior and top)to be sure that it is a fully roadworthy and reliable driver. Some highlights of what was done within the last 4-5 months include:
-New starter and ring gear installed
-New master cylinder
-Carburetors disassembled and cleaned, float levels set, jets/needles/seats/emulsion tubes also cleaned
-Valve clearances set
-New rear transmissionmount
-New exhaust system
We have the receipts for all ofthis work.
As with any car of this vintage, there are some flaws worth pointing out. The following are items that could use some attention:
-Tachometer bounces around a little bit and doesn't read accurately.
-The windshield has some very light pitting and is starting to delaminate slightly at the bottom.
-About 4 months ago, the owner took the car to a local specialist and had a small amount of rust cut out of the driver side rocker panel and replaced with all new metal. The entire driver's side rear quarter panel was then repainted. The quality of the paint work is very nice, but there are a couple ofslightly cloudy spots(see external photo gallery). This is not a paint problem- it just wasn't ever finished out fully. Speaking as an autodetailer for many decades, the paint on this section could certainly be cut and buffed to match the rest of the car perfectly, though it is barely noticeable as it is.
