Car description |

1972 Alfa Romeo Berlina looking for a loving home. This car is pretty well sorted mechanically, but needs cosmetic restoration. It runs and drives very well.
Engine has been updated with a later style Bosch L-Jet electronic fuel injection, which is a huge plus in my book. Engine starts with a flick of a key and is very tractable at all rpm. It has loads of power, keeps excellent oil pressure and temperature. No unusual noises and no smoke at all, even on start up. Clutch is strong, 5-speed transmission shifts very well, no infamous 2nd gear crunch and is quiet. Car feels very tight, steering tracks straight, no vibrations at speed. New Michelins all around. New braking system with all calipers, etc. Sweet sounding Ansa exhaust with newer headers.
The body is straight with good floor pans, trunk floor and rocker panels, as well as good metal around front and rear windshield. No signs of previous metal work. Gauges are Euro and working, odometer reads 166k km, which is roughly 100k miles and is believed to be correct. Two full sets of keys, door locks are operable.
Now the bad: car has been repainted in the 80’s to original champagne color, and the paint is now bad and needs to be redone. Paint is cracked and missing in several places, rust in the door bottoms and rear wheel arches. Interior is tired. Seats have been redone in velour, door panels and dash are original. Wood trim could stand refinishing. Hood latch needs attention.
This is a good driver car and can be used as-is, but really it needs a good Alfisti home, that will bring it back to former glory this car deserves. Given that the values of these rare cars have gone way up, it makes financial sense now to give this car a makeover. It was going to be me, but I’m overwhelmed with projects.
You can drive this car home. I don’t have any extra parts with the car, what you see is what you get, some small stuff maybe missing. I have 2 manuals for the EFI, which will come with the car. Clear open WA state title, ready for ownership transfer. No reserve, last bidder wins, but please bid only if genuinely interested and are able to complete the transaction according to the auction terms. Ask all questions before bidding. The car is located near downtown Seattle and I can show it anytime before the auction end.
