Car description

You're looking at this auction because you know cars. You get it. You know what the NSX is, and what it represents. The NSX was the pinnacle car of the Japanese "golden age".I think the NSX was the point where analog met digital.
Everything on this NSX works. How many NSXs have you seen with a working, lighted TCS indicator light?
Don't discount this car because it has an automatic. I purposely sought a well-cared for '91-'92 model automatic to get the power steering option AND the softer suspension of the early cars. Many potential NSX buyers in the middle '90's dismissed new NSXs because of the harsh ride as a result of the revised suspension in '93. Add the wider 16"-17" rim update and the ride was even more buck-board like. Not so in 1991. The previous owner of this car had upgraded to the 16"-17" factory-style rims which are not on the car now, but will be included with the car if you win the auction.
I am a 64 year-old retired mechanic that restores classic cars for a living, so I like things "Original". The only modifications to this car is a lightweight, engine support brace atop the engine compartment, and an updated S.S. exhaust system (actually sounds beefier), both added by the previous owner. I replaced the original plastic inside door releases with the aluminum-allow replacements (in silver, not black) from daliracing.com because the driver's side cracked due to age.
I have the complete owner and service history from new. Originally purchased by a 34 year-old doctor out of Lake Forrest, IL from White Acura in Minnesota. The second owner was Bill Swenson of Plainfield, IL in July of 2003 with 51,000 miles on the odometer. Bill sold the car to Glenn Coggins in March of 2007 and the car moved to North Carolina. I purchased the car in November of 2012 with 73,000 miles on the odometer and have averaged 3,800 miles driven each year since.
I have left the transparent decals on the rear glass that show the car has been NSXPO in Raleigh, Marysville and Palm Springs, CA. This car can be driven reliably ANYWHERE, as it should be. It's an Acura. Again, if you're looking at this ad, YOU KNOW.
I have service and maintenance receipts dating back to 1991. The 3 Bose speaker enclosures were rebuilt in 2004; the door latch cable repair was completed in 2004 and the driver's side window regulator has been replaced also. The a/c has been updated to R-134. I have six notebooks containing the printed 23-chapterfactory service manual that I have used successfully over the years to repair worn or defective items. I have done all basic maintenance and repair work myself unless factory diagnosis was required. In those cases, the NSX factory-trained tech at Mike Hale Acura in Salt Lake City has done the repairs.
Always adult-owned. Clean Carfax. No accidents. The car does has some rock chips on the front fascia and the front clip was repainted before I purchased it. There are a few scratches on the exterior but no dents. Other than those two items most enthusiasts think the car is much newer from its appearance. ALWAYS garage kept by me and never driven in winter (as if you COULD!) I run the car exclusively on non-ethanol gas unless it is on a long trip away from home. She's in my heated garage right now with both a plastic anda 3M outdoor cover with mirror inserts, up in the air on a 4-post lift.
As you see in one of the pictures, everything I have that is NSXcomes with the purchase of the car. You get it all: original owner's manual, instructional hanging cards, window sticker, "Heatshield" custom sunshield, two large NSX garage banners, a stack of popular automobile magazines from the time surrounding the development and launch of the model and all the NSX goodies from attending three of the NSXPrime events around the country. I am also including the metal, padded brake-handle cup holder that was specially manufactured by a frustrated NSX owner for a short time when Acura couldn't design one that worked. "Heatshield" sunshield and Four Acura/Acura NSX shirts and a windbreaker from NSXPo 2013. Even the original NSX coffee table introduction book now valued at $250 elsewhere on this website.
If you are asking, "Why would this car guy be selling his treasured 1991 NSX?" here's the answer: the wife allowed me to purchase a used 2015 BMW i8 with the concession that I sell both my 2008 Audi TT and my 1991 Acura NSX. Never having been on the cusp of technology before (I told you I like original classics) and in love with the BMW's design and butterfly doors, I took her up on the offer.
Please email if you would like any additional pictures. I have additional pictures of the chassis not included here. I have lifts in my garage and can take pictures from any angle. You can email me through eBay, PM me at foxlovescars@comcast.net or call me on my cellphone at 540-819-5235.
Thanks for looking at my 1991 Acura NSX.
NOTE: After posting the auction tonight (New Years Day), I read the Experian Auto Check rating of "43"; a lower score than even the "average" range for other similar cars they have rated. It appears from reading the entire report that, A) because the car is 27 years old, B) that comparatively, many NSXs have very, very low mileage, and C) their research shows five owners,Auto Check has given my car a below-average score. This rating is SO different from the two Carfax reports that I have. One issued 6/24/2003 when second owner Bill Swenson purchased the car and one dated 3/4/2013 when I bought the car from the third owner Glen Coggins. I can guarantee you that this car is FAR from being below average in anything. I will be more than happy to order a current Carfax report and provide it to any potential bidder who would like one.
